The race for the World First Kill is over. The European guild Echo was the first to defeat the Banshee Queen in World of Warcraft.
A race for the World First Kill of Sylvanas Windrunner in Mythic mode from the Sanctum of Domination, the latest raid in World of Warcraft, lasted just under a week. Just in time, the European guild Echo managed to secure the First Kill and send the Banshee Queen to the ground.
A perfect attempt was necessary: The Sylvanas fight in its current state allows for almost no mistakes and requires perfect execution of the mechanics to have even a chance of dealing enough damage in the limited time. After all, the undead elf had to be brought down to 45% of her health points – not just 50% as previously assumed. Therefore, a perfect pull was required to finally defeat Sylvanas. You can view the kill attempt here:
The race was more exciting than ever: Even though the race lasted “only” 7 days, it was quite intense and thrilling. The first 5 bosses were pretty much “low-hanging fruit” for the pros, but after that, things got exciting. Several guilds managed to reach Sylvanas almost simultaneously, although the favorites were consistently Echo (EU) and Limit (US).
Echo was running out of time: It is particularly noteworthy that Echo was under tremendous time pressure. Just in a few hours, the weekly reset would have occurred in the USA, giving the competition, Complexity Limit, a clear advantage through better gear.
Was Sylvanas too easy? The fact that Sylvanas was defeated after just a week raises the question for many as to whether the fight is “too easy.” However, it should not be forgotten that these are the best WoW players in the world who needed a proud 169 attempts to defeat Sylvanas – and that in the first Mythic week, when the gear is far from optimal.
Did you follow the race for the World First Kill? Do you think Echo deserves the success? Or would you have preferred to see another guild?
Previously, Echo had attempted a special strategy – but it was fixed by Blizzard.
