Anduin's letter to Sylvanas
“To Queen Sylvanas Windrunner, Dark Lady of the Forsaken and Warchief of the Horde. King Anduin Llane Wrynn sends his respectful greetings.
I write to you to make a proposal that has nothing to do with armies, territories, or goods, but is one that I believe will be beneficial to both the Horde and the Alliance.
I want to get straight to the point. When you approached the Alliance to find a home for your people, you were rejected. We were still suffering from the terror that Arthas had inflicted on Lordaeron and could not understand that the Forsaken were anything different.
Recently, I spoke directly with a Forsaken who held great respect in life, and I learned that despite all he has endured, he still follows the Light. His name is Alonsus Faol, and he was once the Archbishop of Lordaeron. He has agreed to act as an intermediary to represent the interests of the living and the undead.
This letter is about families. Families that were not torn apart by the Horde or Alliance, but by Arthas, who let despair and destruction rain over us all. Spouses, children, parents – so many have been separated from one another, first by death and then by fear and anger. Perhaps, if we work together, these separated ones can be reunited.
We are not currently at war. But I am not so naïve as to believe that hostilities would not still exist. We have recently experienced great changes in our world in the form of Azerite – a manifestation of the pain Azeroth feels. United, we could direct our exploration of this substance in a way that could save it. Therefore, let us focus on a small but no less significant gesture – as a first step towards a potential future that benefits both the Horde and the Alliance.
I propose a single day of ceasefire. On this day, families that have been separated by war and death will have an opportunity to meet those they have lost. Participation is strictly voluntary. All those from the Alliance will be thoroughly vetted, and no one will be allowed whom I believe poses a danger to the Forsaken. The same I expect from you. We will set a limited number of participants.
A suitable location for this event is the Arathi Highlands. I will gather my people at the old fortress of Stromgarde. Thoradin’s Wall is near a Horde outpost. There, in the open field, with sufficient protection that we both as leaders of humans and Forsaken determine, these fractured families will meet. It will last from dawn to dusk. With your consent, Archbishop Faol and other priests will support this and provide assistance as necessary.
Should any harm come to my people, know that I will not hesitate to seek retribution.
I understand that if my people harm the Forsaken, you will act similarly.
As a priest, as the King of Stormwind, and as the son of Varian Wrynn, I guarantee safe passage for all Forsaken who choose to wish to participate. If this ceasefire is successful, it could be repeated.
Do not misunderstand this as a peace offering. This is merely the offer for a single day of compassion for people cruelly separated from each other – by a power that was neither Horde nor Alliance.
You and I have both lost our families, Warchief. Let us not impose this on others who, like us, never chose it.
Written by my own hand,
King Anduin Llane Wrynn”
No peace in Arathi: Even though we do not yet know the concrete outcome, it is to be assumed that this meeting will fail. After all, the Arathi Highlands with the fortress Stromgarde is a war front in Battle for Azeroth – so a constant battlefield.
