Many players wish that allied races in World of Warcraft should be playable immediately. But what does our community think about it?
The allied races of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth have been one of the major “selling points” of the expansion. After all, many players looked forward to starting a new virtual life as a Mag’har Orc or Dark Iron Dwarf. However, these races are all hidden behind lengthy quests and reputation requirements.
Obstacle to Fun: Many players find it absurd that allied races have to be painstakingly unlocked. After all, few people want to run through outdated content (like Legion for the Lightforged Draenei or Void Elves) only to play the same content again later with the allied race.
Reputation Requirements are Nonsensical: The biggest criticism from players is that some reputation requirements seem completely arbitrary. For instance, to unlock the Mag’har, one needs to have a revered reputation with the Oathbound. However, this is not really important, as none of the Oathbound help in saving the Mag’har.
Players criticize that Blizzard has arbitrarily created a barrier, regardless of whether it fits with the story or not.
Allied Races are a Prestige Option: Other players find the requirements good and sensible. This way, the allied races become a type of “prestige option” that shows that one has accomplished significantly more in the game world. Moreover, some enjoy the unlocking process and have fun earning something first.
Community Opinion on Allied Races
