Are you looking for a suitable name for your dragons in World of Warcraft? We will tell you how to create the perfect dragon name.
In World of Warcraft, since Dragonflight, the new race of the Dracthyr is available to play. But before you can start, you face quite a difficult task. How should you name the new Dracthyr? After all, you don’t want to showcase the naming talent of average hunters by naming your character “Dráchênpâúl.”
That’s why we have some tips for you on how to name your Dracthyr.
Dragon Names – Suitable Names for the Dracthyr in WoW
Those who are more familiar with names in World of Warcraft already know that dragon names usually sound quite similar – depending on which dragonflight they belong to.
Endings – How (almost) all Dragon Names End
Depending on which dragonflight a dragon belongs to, it has a different ending. So if you want a name that suits your color or lineage, pay attention to the following endings:
- Red Dragons: -strasz for male characters, -strasza for female characters
- Blue Dragons: -gos for male characters, -gosa for female characters
- Bronze Dragons: -ormu for male characters, -ormi for female characters
- Green: -us for male characters, -ra for female characters
With black dragons, it’s not always that clear-cut, and some stand out from the rest. However, there is generally a trend.
- Black Dragons: -ian and -ion for male characters, -ia for female characters
Prefixes – What Suits Dragons Well
With that, you already have the necessary building blocks to find a suitable dragon name. You can simply modify any name with these endings.
If you want to sound “even more” like a WoW dragon, you can also lean the first part of the name a bit. Many dragon names also refer to the function or color of their flight. Therefore, the first part of the name can – but does not have to – be the beginning of a term related to the color or function of the respective flight.
Here are a few examples:
- “Chronormu” is composed of the term “Chronos” (“Time”) and the ending “-ormu.” It is therefore a bronze dragon.
- “Azuregos” is composed of the term “Azure” (a shade of blue) and the ending “-gos,” so it is a blue dragon.
- “Onyxia” is composed of the term “Onyx” (a mineral) and the ending “-ia,” meaning it is a female black dragon.
The functions of the individual flights are summarized here once again.
- Red Dragonflight: Protects life and creation.
- Blue Dragonflight: Takes care of magic and the arcane.
- Green Dragonflight: Protects nature and the Emerald Dream.
- Bronze Dragonflight: Protects the timelines and observes them.
- Black Dragonflight: Preserves the earth / the planet.
However, note that not all dragons strictly follow these guidelines, and some can definitely stand out. But if you want a “typical” dragon name, you should be safe with the tips above.
