The quest “Strange Scourgestones” poses some WoW players with problems. We explain what the Black Scourgestones are all about.
The pre-event for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is currently starting. The first set of quests is available and presents some players with challenges. Upon arriving in Icecrown, there is the mission “Strange Scourgestones”, which does not have a clearly defined objective. We explain how to complete the quest and what you need to pay attention to.
How does the quest work? The quest “Strange Scourgestones” in Icecrown wants you to collect “Black Scourgestones” and “Darkened Scourgestones”. You can obtain these from pretty much all enemies in Icecrown that belong to the undead.
- Darkened Scourgestones can be dropped by all servants of the Scourge in Icecrown. You can simply farm them by continuously killing enemies.
- Black Scourgestones are rarer, dropping in large quantities from various rare mobs. Individual ones sometimes drop from regular enemies.
This is how quest progression works: The quest Strange Scourgestones works a bit differently than quests in WoW usually do. The quest does not require you to collect a specific number of stones, but has a progress bar. If this progress bar is not displayed, interface addons may be to blame. But relogging can also help in displaying the progress bar.
The progress of the quest is also rather untypical. You fill the 100 % this way:
- Every time you loot Darkened Scourgestones, progress increases by 10 %.
- Black Scourgestones increase progress by 20 %.
It is important that the amount of looted Scourgestones does not matter! For example, if you loot 30 Black Scourgestones at once from a rare enemy, it only counts as “looted once” for the quest – the bar would only fill by 20%. Thus, you need to gather the Scourgestones in multiple looting actions.
Also important: Scourgestones collected before accepting the quest do not count towards the progress. Only Scourgestones that go into the inventory after accepting the quest are counted.
What does the quest bring? The quest Strange Scourgestones rewards you with 5 Argentum commendations every day. You can exchange these for various rewards directly next to the quest giver. These include special pets, an enchanted broom, or a nice armor set, which is especially worthwhile for second characters or transmog collectors.
