The mood in World of Warcraft fluctuates just before the release of Battle for Azeroth. Suddenly everything is happening way too fast.
The release of Battle for Azeroth is getting closer. On August 14, the release of the seventh expansion of World of Warcraft is set, and players are preparing for it. But the closer the release gets, the more restless the players become – because time is now running out.
The mood in the community: Divided
In the last weeks before the release of Patch 8.0 – presumably on July 18 – Blizzard had something special in store. In a quest chain, the artifact weapons were overloaded, making them particularly powerful. This gave many players the incentive to tackle challenges, such as raids or the Mage Tower challenges, which had previously been impossible for them.
But this time pressure is blowing up in his face right now. Because many of the available rewards, such as the mount from Argus (Violet Spellwing) or the skins from the Mage Tower, will soon no longer be available.
The release of Battle for Azeroth causes panic
Time is running short and players feel pressured to quickly “scoop” everything in their free time that will be lost forever.
In the forums, there are ongoing threads where players are demanding that all the rewards should remain in the game. It is no longer up-to-date to cut content from games just because it is outdated. After all, this would not be done with other content (like pets or toys). Making distinctions here is absurd and strange.
These complaints and wishes often lead to conflicts, as many believe that there has been enough time to earn the rewards. Those who have not managed to do so by now simply do not deserve it.
Another part is relaxed and simply looks forward to the new continents and quests to explore soon.
Dissatisfaction with Horde development
However, most players agree that the developers of the Horde, as shown so far in the beta and on the PTR, are viewed critically. Many Horde players cannot justify the actions of Sylvanas Windrunner and miss the feeling of being able to identify “proudly” with their faction.
Although Blizzard has repeatedly emphasized that Sylvanas has “moral gray areas”, this has not been convincingly shown. Instead, it seems, as the players’ concern indicates, to lead to a clear “Alliance = good” and “Horde = evil”.
Many Horde players hope that this development will ease and that more details will be revealed in the coming patches to portray the Horde from a different, better perspective.
