- What does Yoshi-P allow?! The latest raid instance from Final Fantasy XIV captivates players with its mechanics, soundtrack, and a particular character. Director and producer Naoki Yoshida, however, can’t stand her at all.
- On August 26, 2024, the re-birthday in Final Fantasy XIV will take place. You can find all the details about the event on de.finalfantasyxiv.com.
- A developer veteran and former Blizzard designer spoke about the sharp decline in player numbers of World of Warcraft and what she sees as the reasons for the crash. An interview with Holly Longdale, vice president and executive producer for World of Warcraft, also covered Blizzard’s mistakes and the lessons learned.
- While the heroes of Azeroth are currently diving into WoW expansion number 10, lore maestro Chris Metzen is apparently already working on the 17th chapter of World of Warcraft.

- The venerable MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies still has so many fans today that over the past weekend, a popular private server struggled with the high player count.
- Although the new Legendary servers of Lord of the Rings Online are receiving much praise, there is a catch: Anyone who wants to experience the best possible gaming performance in Europe must activate the paid VIP status despite the Free2Play model.
- On August 20, 2024, the new update 7.5.1 went live for Star Wars: The Old Republic. The Galactic Season 7 lets you hunt 20 different bosses. Furthermore, you can expect “A Night for Two” missions from Vette and Aric Jorgan. You can find the official patch overview on swtor.com.
- The Russian MMORPG Royal Quest, which was released ten years ago, aims for a worldwide release on Steam on October 1, 2024 – with fresh servers and an English localization.

- The Free2Play MMORPG Dragona: Fireborne has only just launched in May 2024 and is already coming to an end. On August 18, 2024, the server shutdown was announced via Steam. The reason: low player numbers and other issues.
What happened with MMORPGs in development:
- Throne and Liberty has been slightly delayed. The new release date is now set for October 1, 2024, with an early access option on September 26, 2024.
- The developers of Ashes of Creation have revealed the concrete plans for the upcoming Alpha-2 test. Anyone who wants a look at the MMORPG in one of the three alpha cycles must purchase access packages costing between 100 to 120 euros. This sparked heated discussions within the community.
- As part of gamescom 2024, Christoph Hartmann, vice president at Amazon Games, spoke about the status quo of current major projects such as the new MMORPG for Lord of the Rings.
- The process of clearing inactive plots in Pax Dei is completed. The developers removed 7.8 percent of all plots.
