Blizzard has revealed a new detail about transmogging in WoW: Battle for Azeroth. If you are fond of your artifact weapon, you can rejoice: Artifact weapon skins in WoW can now be transferred to anything.
In the Q&A from World of Warcraft, new details about transmogging were revealed. Game Director Ion Hazzikostas mentioned an interesting fact that may please all players who care about the appearance of their weapon. In Battle for Azeroth, you will be able to transfer the appearance of the artifact weapon to any other weapon type.
Regardless of weapon type: Artifact weapons were special in many ways. Sometimes they even allowed a class to equip a weapon type that they normally cannot use. For example, druids are usually unable to wield two daggers at the same time – but with the artifact weapon, they could. Many players have feared that their unlocked templates for artifact weapons would not be usable. However, the new exception now allows exactly that: Transferring the artifact weapon skin to all usable weapon types.
An example: You are a Shadow Priest and still attached to your dagger Xal’atath, but in Battle for Azeroth you are using a two-handed staff? Then you can still transmog Xal’atath and the corresponding off-hand onto the staff and proudly stroll around Kul Tiras and Zandalar with your dagger.
No transmogging of foreign specializations. However, Blizzard still insists on one thing. You will not be able to use the transmogging of another specialization. For example, if you are a Fire Mage, you cannot transmog your weapon to Aluneth (Arcane). This would cause too many problems with the representation of certain spell animations and distort the lore of the weapons.
