In World of Warcraft: Legion there were plenty of cool equipment items for characters – except for weapons. Since all players had the artifact weapons, there was no need to design other weapons and their associated models. Although there were one or two weapons, such as from the invasions or the Army of the Light achievement on Argus, real highlights were missing.
With patch 7.3.2 this will change, as the new raid Antorus, the Burning Throne opens.
Here too, the artifact weapons will not yet be removed from the game, but there are two very nice polearms to obtain for transmog. The Scythe of the Tormentor is available in blue and red, with the assumption that the dark red variant will only drop in heroic or mythic mode of the raid.
Both weapons will likely drop from Argus, the Tormentor – the last boss of the new raid.
Primarily, the weapon will likely remain attractive for hunters and warriors as transmog – but who knows how this will change in the next expansion.
What do you think about weapons that serve only a cosmetic purpose? Is this a good balance and urgently needed with the artifact weapons? Or should other armor pieces be designed instead, rather than allowing the artifact weapons to be overshadowed by other models?
