Chain Lightning in World of Warcraft is actually weak. However, with a few tricks, it can execute any player with a single hit.
In a game of the complexity and size of World of Warcraft, there are always bugs and exploits that players can take advantage of. However, few have found as many interesting combinations as player Rextroy. In his latest video, he found another combination of abilities that allowed him to kill enemies with a single blow. The reason: Shamans have a “boss ability” that is much stronger than expected.
What happened? WoW player Rextroy revealed a trick with the Shaman in his latest video. He can execute enemies instantly with his Chain Lightning. This is absurd since Chain Lightning usually deals very little damage and could never create a “one-hit”. Once again, however, stacking numerous effects and a peculiar boss ability ensures that Horde players are sent “instantly” to the ground.
How does it work? The core of the combo is the PvP talent “Storm Circle”. According to the description, it fires an additional Chain Lightning bolt at the opponent when using “Stormstrike”, which can hit up to 3 enemies. However, what is not mentioned in the tooltip is that the attack is not the actual Chain Lightning of the Shaman, but a boss version from raids like the Throne of Thunder! This Chain Lightning bolt has the unique feature of becoming 50% stronger with each jump, causing the 3rd target to take significantly more damage.
This alone doesn’t deal enough damage, so Rextroy incorporates even more modifications. All other buffs that enhance Chain Lightning also affect this boss lightning strike:
- 125% bonus from the boss ability
- The legendary “Chains of Devastation” provides a 50% bonus
- Maelstrom weapon gives a 110% bonus
- Stormcaller grants a 300% bonus
Since the bonuses affect each other, this results in a whopping increase of 2,735%!
Now Rextroy just needs to ensure that the Horde player is definitely the 3rd target of the Chain Lightning strike. For this, he uses the already infamous frogs once again.
All of this combined ensures that the enemy is often hit with 60,000 to 70,000 damage points and is thus completely eliminated from digital existence in nearly all cases.
Is it allowed to use such exploits? Generally no. Anyone who exploits such exploits in PvP to gain an advantage must expect their account to be banned. However, in the case of Rextroy, he always informs the developers about the bugs and issues he finds. He then gets the “okay” from Blizzard and only publishes his video after the developers have already applied a hotfix. This ensures that other players cannot repeat the exploit.
What do you think of this combination? Interesting that such a thing can be found in the game? Or is it becoming embarrassing that there are still so many bugs in WoW?
