Just after 3:00 AM, leveling was already over for a player from WoW: Shadowlands. He is the first character to reach level 60.
Many players haven’t even really started leveling in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, while others are already finished. One player was particularly fast and completed the whole process in just under three hours. The 10 levels from level 50 to level 60 flew by.
Who is that? The character’s name is Monkeylool and he comes from EU server Al’Akir. He plays a Pandaren Monk on the Alliance side and reached level 60 in just over three hours.
How did he do that? To level so quickly, Monkeylool and his guildmates used a little trick. They repeatedly signed up for the dungeon “Necrotic Wake” and completed it—just the three of them. A single run actually only took 5-6 minutes and rewarded with decent XP at the end of the dungeon.
Normally, you can only visit this dungeon while leveling until level 56. However, Monkeylool was able to bypass this limitation by always having a player in the group who was below level 56. In that case, the whole group can re-enter the dungeon.
Whether this is a mechanic intended by Blizzard is uncertain.
Does turbo leveling help? Not really, except for the glory of being the first player at level 60. Monkeylool doesn’t have a gameplay advantage, as mythic dungeons and other endgame content won’t be unlocked until Wednesday after the reset anyway.
Moreover, Monkeylool still has to complete the entire questline of the campaign. Before that, the character can’t choose a covenant and thereby miss out on many endgame contents.
