There is a lot to do in WoW: Shadowlands. But what should you definitely accomplish? What is currently the most important?
Gradually, more and more players are reaching level 60 in WoW: Shadowlands and coming into contact with the endgame features. But what should you definitely do in week 1 of the expansion? Where should you focus and what can you neglect? We will explain what you should do at all costs and what has less priority for now.
Priority 1: Upgrade the Covenant
Once you reach level 60 and complete the campaign, you should first fully engage with your Covenant’s quests. This will unlock many new features and functions that you wouldn’t be able to use otherwise.
After completing the introductory quest chain, you will unlock world quests, but that’s not the end. You should also accept and complete all tasks from your Covenant thereafter.
By doing this, you unlock a variety of features:
- Upgrades for your Covenant Sanctum (Adventure Table, Teleportation Network, Covenant Activities)
- Anima storage, where you can deposit Anima from world quests to purchase various things within the Covenant.
- Reputation levels that come with new unlocks like Soulbindings, Stamina bonuses, and mounts
- The Maw with Ve’nari and her upgrades
- The unlocking of Torghast, the Tower of the Damned
- The unlocking of media (for Soulbindings) as drops from world quests and dungeons
- The unlocking of the Runemaster in Torghast
- Legendary recipes
By the end of all these tasks, you should have reached reputation level 3, which is the maximum for the first week.
Torghast – An Important Weekly Task
Visiting Torghast is one of your most important tasks that you should complete each week. This is because you can earn Soul Ash in Torghast, which you need for crafting legendary items. Since there is a weekly cap on how much Soul Ash you can obtain from Torghast, you should make the most of it.
At least in the first few weeks, this is advisable. Once you have crafted your favorite Legendary, you may neglect Torghast if you are not enjoying it. However, those who want a wide range of legendary items will have to tackle Torghast every week.
However, be aware that you must unlock Torghast and its features through the Covenant Quests first.
Tasks for Ve’nari in the Maw
In the Maw, Ve’nari waits for you, whom you may have already met during the quests. In exchange for Stygia, she sells you valuable items and upgrades for your stay in the Maw.
You can obtain Stygia through all activities in the Maw – whether from dailies, rare elites, or special events.
But be careful! If you die in the Maw, you will lose a part of your Stygia. So do not wait too long before you retreat to avoid losing Stygia.
This is complicated by the Eye of the Jailer. The more you accomplish in the Maw, the nastier creatures the Jailer will unleash upon you until you eventually become overwhelmed. The Eye of the Jailer resets every day – so the Maw is a daily activity.
Callings instead of Emissary Quests
Callings are basically the new emissary quests in Shadowlands. You can accept them in your Covenant Sanctum, and then you have a mission in one of the four zones of the Shadowlands. This can be completing 3 world quests, but it can also be a more specific quest, such as completing a specific dungeon or simply completing random activities in the respective zone.
These Callings reward you with 1,500 reputation points with the respective faction and a box that may contain gear. It will definitely include some gray items that can be sold to vendors for a decent amount – between 1,500 and 3,000 gold, and in some cases even a little more.
What else can be done?
Apart from the points mentioned above, you can still accomplish a few other things. However, these have lower priority and are therefore optional:
- World Quests: World Quests give you additional media, reputation, gold, and occasionally even gear. So it may be worthwhile to complete World Quests more frequently in the first weeks, even if they are not required by your Covenant Quests.
- PvP: You can earn Honor through random battlegrounds, which provides decent gear at least at the start. This way, you can effectively fill gaps in your gear and be ready for the coming weeks.
- Mythic Dungeons: Even if there are no rewards in the Great Vault yet, you should still tackle mythic dungeons. Eight different ones are available, and they all provide good gear, media, and even legendary recipes for the Runemaster.
- Professions: Improving your crafting, whether it’s Cooking or Fishing, is likely to offer long-term benefits. After all, this leads to good buff food that will be useful at least in raids.
What are you focusing on at the start? Do you have a specific plan? Or are you just playing casually?
You can also complete all the side quests, such as the decision quest “Pack or Unit”.
