Mythic dungeons have been the most challenging content in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands to date. A group completed all of these dungeons – entirely without one of the key roles and in just about four hours.
What the group achieved: The five players led by the warlock Felthrower mastered all eight dungeons of the new expansion Shadowlands in mythic mode. This was previously the highest difficulty in PvE, until the Nathria Castle and mythic key dungeons were unlocked today, December 9th.
The team consisted solely of cloth wearers, so a full “cloth group”:
- 2 Arcane Mages
- 2 Affliction Warlocks
- one Discipline Priest as healer
Their looting spree lasted just over four hours, split into two parts. We have embedded the first part here for you. You can find the second part as a video on Twitch.
Why do something like this? Many players use groups that consist solely of one armor class to quickly improve their gear. Through the loot system, each player only receives what they can wear themselves, and since everyone wears this armor class, players can equip themselves faster.
This typically only works with plate and leather groups, as they all have all three roles of the “holy trinity”. Cloth and chain wearers must always bring at least one tank who wears plate or leather.
In this case, it might be more about prestige. After a full chain group mastered all dungeons in the second week (via wowhead), the cloth wearers have now followed suit.
“Aggro-Pingpong” and many deaths
This is how they did it: Important components in the fights were the voidwalkers of the warlocks – companions that can also tank. Since the five players did not have the option for misdirection or similar tactics, they had to juggle their threat and try to only deal as much damage as to cause the boss to switch targets.
This way, they prevented themselves from dying due to their low health points and were able to defeat most bosses rather “easily”. Only Mueh‘zala, the final boss in “The Other Side” does not move and therefore cannot be pulled. He caused the group many deaths.

Can I do this too? The group likely already gathered quite strong gear and no longer needed the loot. In principle, yes. Especially since it will become easier from now on.
With the start of the first season of Shadowlands, Nathria Castle and Mythic+ open their gates. You will receive much better loot than before. This should make it even easier to play through the mythic dungeons.
However, if you want to try a “cloth group” at the raid or higher key stones, you may quickly hit your limits. To ensure that you can at least master the raid well, you will find here on MeinMMO tips for the ideal preparation for Nathria Castle.
