The new WoW expansion Shadowlands is here and for many players, it means leveling up again. But how do you reach level 60 the fastest? We have collected the leveling path of an expert and tricks from speed levelers.
Where does the information come from? The player DesMephisto is known for performing speedruns and setting crazy records in World of Warcraft:
- Already in the pre-patch to Shadowlands, he leveled a character from level 1 to 50 in record time
- Previously, DesMephisto had already set records in Battle for Azeroth. For a character from level 1 to 120, he only needed 13 hours
- Additionally, he leveled a total of 46 characters to level 120 and they were all warriors.
Now DesMephisto has created a guide that will help you reach level 60 in less than 6 hours of gameplay. He details which quests he uses and what tools like boosts, elixirs, or addons he employs.

These are the most important tips for fast leveling
Here’s how DesMephisto proceeds: He first completes all the necessary quests in Icecrown, the Maw, and Oribos. Then he goes to the areas of Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, and Revendreth, which you must play in this order anyway. There he completes the respective quests and tasks.
You can follow his exact paths with the help of maps and videos. For the first step in Icecrown, the Maw, and Oribos, DesMephisto needed about 40 minutes:
There are no real tricks to be seen. However, he emphasizes numerous speed and damage boosts in the form of elixirs, potions, bombs, oils, and general consumables. The most important among them are:
- 60x Boots of Speed
- 30x Goblin Gliders
- 20x Bear Tartare
- 1 Switchblaster

The most important thing is that you are as fast as possible – literally. Make sure to maximize your movement speed so you reach level 60 the quickest.
What addons does DesMephisto use? There aren’t many surprises when it comes to addons. He mainly uses things that are useful for quickly completing quests or for killing rare mobs:
- Abandon Zone Quests, which automatically abandon all quests in a zone,
- Leatrix Plus, which automatically accepts quests and sells items.
- HandyNotes, which marks treasures and special locations on the map
- SilverDragon, which marks rare enemies on the map.

Quickly reach level 60 in Shadowlands
Is his method the fastest? Currently, it seems that DesMephisto’s method is indeed very fast and especially doable solo, but there is an even faster way.
The first player to reach level 60 only needed 3 hours. He used a trick and guildmates to quickly farm experience in the dungeon “Necrotic Wake”.
However, DesMephisto’s method avoids tricks, exploits, or drastic secrets and is also better because you directly interact with the covenants, the new major feature in Shadowlands.
Does it help to level up quickly? Only to a limited extent. If you want to enjoy Shadowlands, you should take your time leveling up.
On one hand, you must complete the entire quest line to choose a covenant and experience endgame content. This did not happen with the method of Monkeylool, the first player at level 60.
