Game Director Ion Hazzikostas spoke in an interview with streamer Zoltan about World of Warcraft Shadowlands and the pre-patch of the expansion. He revealed that one of the currently most hated characters will also make an appearance.
What happens in the pre-patch? Update 9.0 will be the pre-patch for the Shadowlands expansion and will be released about a month before the expansion.
In addition to the adjustments to the leveling system and the already announced class changes, there will also be new game content.
Players will travel to Northrend, where they will meet the Lich King Bolvar. He survived the attack by Sylvanas at the end of Battle for Azeroth. We will learn what has happened to the Scourge and what role the Death Knights will now play.
Another character will also make an appearance in the patch. Many players hope to kill him directly.
Nathanos returns with the pre-patch

Some players are wondering what has happened to Nathanos since Sylvanas disappeared. There are definitely some players who are hunting Nathanos and seeking revenge. And that could be something we experience in the pre-patch.
Nathanos is not particularly popular among players. This began when he was able to take on Tyrande and Malfurion alone. According to the lore, Nathanos is actually not a particularly strong hero – just the only human ranger lord that ever existed. The love story between him and Sylvanas is also viewed negatively by many.
This hate is clearly visible in the sub-reddit for the game. The user Dmichuck created a thread titled “I can’t wait for Shadowlands to finally kill Nathanos”. In it, he also hopes that he will “only be a quest mob” because the character deserves no more.

What else happens in the pre-patch? In addition to the story moments, new and repeatable content will be introduced in the open world, allowing players to prepare their characters for the challenges in Shadowlands.
However, Ion did not reveal what these contents would look like.
Another change announced by Blizzard on Twitter is that multiple Demon Hunters can be created per server because they will no longer start at a higher level with Shadowlands.
