The Pre-Patch 9.0 of World of Warcraft is almost here. The download has already started, and we will explain how to initiate it.
The eighth major expansion of World of Warcraft is practically ready to go. But before Shadowlands celebrates its launch in October, there is first the big Pre-Patch 9.0. The background download has already started, so you can download the patch now. It won’t be long before the changes become active.
How do you start the download? To start the download, you need to open the Battle.net app. Then, proceed as follows:
- Select World of Warcraft and click on the gear icon next to the “Play” button.
- Choose “Installation & Updates” on the left.
- Scroll down to “Game Updates”.
- Check the box for “Always apply the latest updates and download data for future updates for recently played games”.
- Below, in “Network Bandwidth”, enter “0” each to avoid regulating the download speed.
- Confirm with “Done” and the background download for World of Warcraft Patch 9.0 should begin.
How big is the update? The Shadowlands pre-patch is already a remarkable 20 GB in size. Depending on your internet connection, the download may take a while. So it’s worth starting the download to avoid waiting too long on the release day until the game data is ready.
What’s included in the Pre-Patch? The Pre-Patch basically contains the entire Shadowlands expansion, even if many contents – such as the Shadowlands themselves – are not yet playable. Highlights include:
- The overhaul of all classes
- The Level Squish to level 50
- The new level system with Chromie Time
- The many new character customizations
- Abolishment of corruption effects
When will the patch officially be released? There is no official release date for Patch 9.0 yet. However, a date can already be speculated. Because usually, the pre-download of a patch starts 2 weeks before the official release. Since tomorrow (09/17) will see the last afterlife cinematic, this would be the perfect time to announce the release date of the patch. Thus, Patch 9.0 would be released on September 30, 2020 – exactly 4 weeks before the release of the actual Shadowlands expansion. Officially, this is not yet confirmed.
