Patch 9.0 of World of Warcraft is starting with issues. Many players cannot log in or are kicked out of the game immediately. Error 51900123 is a factor.
Update 10:13 PM: In the meantime, the issue seems to be resolved and most players can log in without problems.
Original report: For several hours, the Patch 9.0 has been live in World of Warcraft. The major pre-patch for the upcoming expansion Shadowlands brought numerous innovations, but also a whole lot of issues. Many players are complaining that they cannot play at all.
What is going on? Today, on October 14th, was the infamous patch day in WoW. The old saying “Never play on patch day” seems to hold true again this time, as there are already problems with logging in. There are constant connection drops and players are being kicked from the server. Those who are in the game and log out may not be able to log back in.
The problems manifest as follows:
- The login is not possible at all. The game cannot establish a connection.
- Error 51900319 appears. This is just another term for the failed connection to the server.
- When logging in with a character, the loading screen remains “endlessly” long. After several minutes, the connection is lost.
- While playing, there are long lags and freezes. Sometimes it continues after that, sometimes the connection to the game breaks.
However, not all players are experiencing these issues. Many can play normally and are currently exploring what Patch 9.0 has to offer.
What is Blizzard doing? Blizzard has already responded to the problem. They announced via Twitter that they are investigating the issues leading to failed logins. Normally, such problems last only a few hours before corresponding errors are resolved.
We will inform you as soon as the problem is resolved.
And what about the LUA errors? If you can log in and receive various LUA error messages, it is not fundamentally due to WoW. In this case, several of your interface add-ons are likely outdated and thus causing problems and errors that can affect the game. It is recommended to update all add-ons to the latest version.
If you want to be on the safe side, you should temporarily disable the add-ons completely to rule out errors caused by them.
Are you also having problems with logging in? Or is everything running smoothly for you and you’re already completing the checklist?
