The beta of WoW: Shadowlands could start soon. The hint comes from the streaming service Twitch.
Patch 8.3 Visions of N’Zoth from World of Warcraft has only been live for a few weeks, but many players are already eagerly looking at what comes next: Shadowlands. However, there has been no sign of the next WoW expansion – or has there? Twitch now provides a first hint that could suggest that Shadowlands will soon begin its beta or alpha test.
What happened? Recently, there has been a new category on Twitch. It no longer only shows “World of Warcraft,” but now also “World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.” Such new categories are often encouraged by developers and publishers and can be a clear indication that there will soon be “Shadowlands” content to see. After all, the timing for starting the alpha or beta would be perfect.
What supports this? It supports this that the development of Battle for Azeroth is basically complete. While there are still hotfixes and minor bug fixes, there will be no patch 8.3.5. Additionally, initial content from Shadowlands has already been found in the game files, such as the new hairstyles of the undead. There have been rumors in the community for a while that the beta will start a week after the release of the raid Blackwing Lair in WoW: Classic – which would be on February 19.
Last but not least, the approximate timing also coincides with the start of the alpha of Battle for Azeroth two years ago. Here too, the test began early in February.
How can you participate? So far, there is no option to specifically sign up for the alpha or beta of Shadowlands. However, if Blizzard adheres to the previous procedure, you can indicate your interest in participating in the beta for all WoW products simply in your Battle.net account.
A category on Twitch suggests that all content may be streamed and shown from the very beginning.
