The 8th expansion of World of Warcraft is live. We reveal how you can now take off into the Shadowlands.
Right on time at midnight, it finally happened, and the latest expansion of World of Warcraft was released. In WoW: Shadowlands, the heroes leave Azeroth and wander into the realm of the dead – the Shadowlands. Fortunately, the champions are not dead themselves but have some quests to fulfill there.
How was the launch? Simultaneously at midnight our time, WoW: Shadowlands launched worldwide, and the new quest popped up for all players who had at least level 48 and had purchased the expansion.
Some players reported that the quest appeared a few minutes earlier. It seems the goal was to stagger the crowd a bit by having players start with a delay.
Some players encountered the error message: “A character with this name already exists.” This can happen if you are disconnected from the game and try to log in before the disconnect is registered. Just wait a few seconds and try again.
Should you level quickly? You can take your time leveling, as content such as mythic dungeons will not be unlocked until Wednesday after maintenance. So if you reach level 60 during the upcoming WoW week, you won’t miss anything. There’s really no reason to rush.
What’s all included in Shadowlands? Shadowlands entices with a wealth of content but is quite linear at the start. All players must follow the same sequence through the zones, traveling from Bastion to Maldraxxus, then to Ardenweald, and finally to Revendreth. Afterwards – at level 60 – you will choose one of four covenants, the major main feature of Shadowlands. Additionally, there are new modes like the cool tower Torghast or the special covenant activities.
