Crafting serves a clear purpose again in WoW: Shadowlands. There are cool bonuses that can be applied to equipment.
With Shadowlands, Blizzard aims to make the crafting of World of Warcraft significantly more interesting again. One of the innovations is that you can add additional components to most items during crafting. This allows not only to freely choose secondary attributes through jewels but also to select cool additional effects. Since the last update of the professions however, quite a bit has changed.
What effects are there? The effects are all useful but do not provide a performance boost in combat. So far, there are the following bonuses that can be processed into crafted equipment:
- Alchemist’s Pouch: Increases the duration of flasks.
- Reinforced Girdle: The character retains their “Full” buff even if they are killed in the arena or a battleground.
- Loosened Belt: Increases the duration of the “Full” buff.
- Necrostatic Micro Capacitator: Increases the primary stats of the wearer when they complete world quests.
- Elethium Setting: Adds a socket to the equipment.
- Craftman’s Pouch: There is a chance to gain an additional skill point in Shadowlands when crafting items.
- Luxurious Feather: Significantly reduces fall damage.
- Shadowy Rabbit’s Foot: Slightly increases movement speed.
Especially the socket (Elethium Setting) stands out here as it offers a clear advantage in all situations. It is to be expected that this will be adjusted.

Are the bonuses also present in the endgame?
Does this have a use in the endgame? It is not yet certain, but it is to be assumed. The bonuses available through crafting, such as a longer duration of flasks, are clearly designed for the endgame. However, players typically do not wear crafted armor there but loot from dungeons and raids. Therefore, it is quite conceivable that these bonuses can also be transferred to the legendary items that every player can obtain. However, it remains to be seen until the Legendary system is in the alpha.
Which effects are gone? However, in the latest update, a whole series of effects have also been deleted. This primarily affected effects that had a clear performance boost – such as additional damage against certain types of creatures or an increase in attributes for a short period. By removing these pure “performance” bonuses, players have more freedom in their choices and can vary instead of solely selecting damage boosts.
However, note that this is still information from the Alpha of Shadowlands. A lot can still change before the release.
