Secretly, Blizzard has brought back ancient, secret transmogs in World of Warcraft. We will tell you how to unlock them – and sell them profitably.
Almost unnoticed by most, the Patch 10.0.7 has implemented a feature considered a secret. Many old rewards, unavailable for over a decade, can now be found back in the game! Secretly, the developers have revamped the dungeon “Zul’Gurub” and brought back many rewards that had disappeared with Cataclysm.
However, you will need to unlock this hidden feature first. We will tell you step by step how to do that and which rewards you can snag.
Zul’Gurub – Unlocking Secret Features
The requirement is that you have a character at max level 70. Once that’s fulfilled, simply travel to Zul’Gurub in northern Stranglethorn Vale and enter the dungeon. Don’t worry, although the dungeon is only available on heroic difficulty, the enemies inside all die with a single attack.
Upon arriving in the dungeon, you must defeat two of the available bosses – any two will do. Once you’ve done that, the final boss Jin’do will be unlocked.
But do not fight Jin’do immediately! Instead, enter the large pyramid where Jin’do is located and go into the inner chamber on the lower level. On the right side, you will see a gong, and in front of it lies a tiny object that you can pick up, the “Shattered Hakkari Trinket”. Collect it.

Then climb the pyramid to the top and start the fight against Jin’do. Once his health points drop to 1, phase 2 of the fight begins, during which he pulls you into the shadow realm. Now leave the immediate battle area and return to the pyramid to exactly the spot where you picked up the first item. While you are in the spirit world, you can now loot a “Broken Hakkari Trinket” there. After that, use one of the two items, which will then be bound to a quest item.
The quest asks you to “find someone who can use it”.
To complete the quest, you must now travel to Zandalar to the Horde area Zuldazar. The NPC Rin’wosho can be found in the capital Dazar’alor at the coordinates 55 / 87 (city coordinates). Don’t worry, even as an Alliance character, you can get there quite easily, as it is located in the more neutral area of the capital.
Turn in the quest to Rin’wosho, and you have unlocked the new feature! This NPC will now sell you numerous recipes and rewards that were previously associated with Zul’Gurub. Among them are some transmog templates that are no longer available in the game.
From now on, Rin’wosho will also be directly at Zul’Gurub, in the entrance area. So you won’t have to return to Zandalar every time to trade with him.
How do you buy the recipes? You can purchase the recipes from Rin’wosho, but you will need various special currencies for that. The troll is only interested in different trinkets from Zul’Gurub. After completing the quest, these trinkets will drop everywhere in Zul’Gurub! The chance is highest with bosses, but normal trash mobs can also drop trinkets.
However, note that not all recipes can be bought directly. Some will now drop from the bosses in Zul’Gurub.
The materials needed for crafting the recipes can be found almost all in the auction house. One special feature is the special leather – this can be skinned by skinners from the wildlife in Zul’Gurub, as several enemies have been added throughout the dungeon.
Can you make gold with this? Yes, quite a bit. The old transmogs from Zul’Gurub are extremely sought after, and collectors will spend a lot of gold to obtain them. Most crafted items are “Bind on Equip,” allowing you to flood the auction houses with them!
New Secrets of Zul’Gurub
In addition to the new drops for buying the recipes, there are three more secrets in Zul’Gurub that collectors should keep an eye on.
New Toy: Frying Pan of Madness
The first is a toy, the “Frying Pan of Madness”. You can simply loot this from “The Hoard of Madness”. It is the small frying pan to the left of the large altar.
The toy has several effects. On the one hand, you can use it as a cooking station instead of a regular campfire, and on the other hand, it changes the “skybox” and thus the lighting of the game. Some colors are inverted while the sky turns a rich purple. Those who found WoW not colorful enough will surely enjoy it.
New Fishing Treasure in Zul’Gurub
The second secret is a fishing treasure that old veterans from vanilla times will surely remember. Cast your line at the coordinates 55 / 33 – a few neutral NPCs are already fishing here.
With a little luck, you should soon hook one of the blue reward chests, which can contain old green items and some trinkets from Zul’Gurub. Additionally, a special fishing achievement awaits you when you find your first chest.
Overall, there are 3 different chests that can be fished here, even though the contents are quite similar each time. However, you can only reel in one of these chests per day.
Mojowahnsinn of the Gurubashi
The third and currently last secret is particularly important. Alchemists who have reached a rank of 300 in the Classic skill of alchemy can learn the recipe for the “Mojowahnsinn of the Gurubashi” in “The Hoard of Madness”. To do this, alchemists only need to click the large stone tablet at the altar and then select “Learn the recipe”.
You can then craft the Mojowahnsinn of the Gurubashi in stacks of 3 and use it to extinguish the Frying Pan of Madness in Zul’Gurub. This will temporarily turn all trolls in the dungeon friendly.
The most important thing is that you can then interact with four different bone piles. There you can exchange various trinkets for different currencies in the dungeon and get closer to the coveted rewards.
The Mojowahnsinn of the Gurubashi is not bound – you can also buy it from other alchemists or sell it yourself.
Have you already unlocked the coveted transmog from the old days? Or are you currently making a fortune?
