Season 1 of World of Warcraft Shadowlands starts. We have all the important information and reveal what you need to pay attention to.
World of Warcraft Shadowlands has been live for about two weeks now. With the maintenance on December 9, 2020, the first season of Shadowlands officially begins, which means many new contents, better rewards, and thus more for the players to do.
But what changes with Season 1? What should you pay attention to and what loot should you definitely grab? We provide you with the most important information for the start of the first Shadowlands season, so you are well prepared.
Raid Castle Nathria – All Opening Times
The centerpiece of a new season for many players is the new raid that comes with it. In WoW Shadowlands, the first raid is Castle Nathria, the great fortress in the heart of Revendreth. Here, some souls need to be redeemed while simultaneously putting the traitor Count Denathrius in his place.
As is usual in WoW, the various difficulties and LFR wings open on different dates. Here are all the dates at a glance:
- December 9: Castle Nathria opens in Normal and Heroic mode
- December 16: Castle Nathria opens in Mythic mode and the first wing of the LFR is also open
- January 6: The second wing of the LFR of Castle Nathria opens
- January 19: The third wing of the LFR of Castle Nathria opens
- February 2: The last wing of the LFR of Castle Nathria opens
In clear terms, this means that from December 15, you should keep an eye on the “World First” race because the raid opens in America a few hours earlier due to time differences and different maintenance times.
To experience Castle Nathria completely in the LFR, you will have to wait until February 2, 2021. Only then will the final boss Denathrius be available.
New Affix for Mythic+: Pride
For fans of dungeons on the “Mythic+” difficulty, there is a new affix, namely Pride. This fits thematically with the story of Revendreth, as it is about making the proud souls humble and repentant.
In dungeons from the “Mythic+10” difficulty, you collect Pride during fights. After you have enough Pride, it manifests into a new enemy that you must fight immediately. If you defeat this manifestation, you receive an extremely powerful buff for one minute, greatly increasing damage, healing, and movement speed. It is therefore important to kill the manifestations at the right moment to gain an advantage in the fight against the bosses and the hardest groups.
New PvP Rewards
With the start of Season 1, the time of ranked PvP in Shadowlands also begins. Players can now earn Conquest points to buy powerful gear. With Honor points, this gear can be further upgraded – at least if one has the corresponding rating in the arena or ranked battlegrounds.
But even for PvE players, a look into PvP might be worthwhile to fill some gaps in their equipment and have good transition gear so that the first visits to Castle Nathria or “Mythic+” dungeons are successful.
The Great Vault
Along with the start of the season, players can also earn a weekly reward again. This time, it is not a box, but an item from the Great Vault in Oribos.
Depending on what achievements you complete in a week, you can receive different rewards. If you clear only one dungeon at “Mythic+”, only one item will be available. If you clear 4 dungeons at Mythic+, there are already 2 items to choose from. Similar applies to raid content and PvP. The more contents you clear, the larger your selection in the vault becomes. This gives you more control over what improvement you want.
Note that you can only open the vault in the coming week – one week after the start of Season 1. Your selection will then be based on the achievements from the previous week.
Also important: You may only choose one item each week from the vault. Choose wisely and do not click too quickly.
Torghast opens up even further
Lastly, there are innovations for all Torghast fans. Previously, only levels 1-3 of the various corridors were accessible, but this changes with the start of Season 1.
In the future, levels 4-6 of each active wing will be accessible. This drastically increases the difficulty, as the enemies are also stronger at higher levels. At the same time, the maximum obtainable Soul Ash per week increases, which is needed for crafting legendary items.
The rewards for Soul Ash for each level are as follows:
| Level | Soul Ash |
| 1 | 120 |
| 2 | 100 |
| 3 | 85 |
| 4 | 70 |
| 5 | 60 |
| 6 | 50 |
Keep in mind that when you complete a high level, you receive all rewards from the previous levels. For example, if you clear a wing at level 5, you also get the rewards from levels 1-4, as long as you haven’t collected them yet this week.
If you complete both open wings at the highest difficulty (6), you can earn 970 Soul Ash this week. Even if many players wish for a better ending for Torghast.
With all this information, you should be well armed for the first season.
Will you dive directly into the raid? Do you prefer to explore “Mythic+” dungeons? Or will you take it easy and wait with the content?
