A small update in World of Warcraft rewards players when they carry weaker companions through “Mythic+”.
With Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination, there is a new system for completing Mythic dungeons. All players are assigned a rating based on their previous experiences in Keystone dungeons. Especially nice: Those who help others improve their rating will be motivated with a small reward.
What changes in Patch 9.1? With the upcoming patch, players will automatically receive a “Dungeon Rating”. This is an assessment from the game of how successful one has been so far in “Mythic+” dungeons. The rating improves every time one completes a new, higher Keystone of a dungeon within the time limit. The system is heavily based on the controversial “Raider.io” rating – indeed, there has been collaboration with the developers on this.
A small twist: Every time the Dungeon Rating of any group member improves, all group members receive a reward.
What kind of reward is that? These are additional Valor Points. The rating is needed to upgrade items from Keystone dungeons and thereby increase the item level. Usually, completing the dungeon already grants some points. However, if the Dungeon Rating of at least one group member increases, all players will receive a bonus on the Valor points earned.
Does this impact boosting? Probably not. So far, the cap on Valor Points is quite easily achievable. Those who earn their in-game gold by offering boosting services to other players will likely benefit little from the Valor points, as those characters are already at the cap. So, anyone who thinks that the gold costs for boosting will decrease because the boosters also gain something from it is likely mistaken.
However, the incentive is nice for guilds and friends who occasionally take players with a not-so-high rating or work together on improvement. They can certainly benefit from the additional Valor points.
How high this bonus will be, however, is still unclear.
When is the change coming? Along with the release of Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination. There is still no date for the release, but in the past few days, some blog posts from Blizzard have been published. This is typically a sign that the release is approaching. As soon as there is a concrete date, we will, of course, report about it.
Is the new reward an incentive for you to also carry “weaker” players through dungeons? Or can such things not sway you?
