Two limitations in World of Warcraft Dragonflight will fall in a few days. Then you can grind as much as you want.
Even though World of Warcraft has dialed back many of these mechanics with Dragonflight, there are still timegating and weekly caps, so-called “Caps”. At the beginning of a season, these are quite sensible, but over time, these limitations are seen as annoying and unnecessary. Blizzard agrees and will remove the caps for Valor and Conquest points in a few days.
When does the cap disappear? The weekly and overall cap for Valor and Conquest will fall on February 15, 2023. After the maintenance in the early morning, you can grind to your heart’s content and collect as many of both points as you want.
What are the currencies used for? Both currencies are especially necessary for endgame and the best gear in the game.
- Valor points primarily come from “Mythic+” and are used to upgrade items from these dungeons. An item can be upgraded up to 12 times, gaining more and more stats. This allows you to turn an otherwise useless item into a top item.
- Conquest points can be obtained from most PvP activities. They are needed to purchase the better PvP set.
Why were the currencies limited? The limitation of both Valor and Conquest points at the start of a season has several reasons. On the one hand, Blizzard wants players to experience progress week by week, and on the other hand, the new raid should not be trivialized right away. If characters can receive “infinite” upgrades from PvE and PvP from day one, most would spend almost unlimited time in dungeons in the first week, only to then plow through the raid with overpowering gear.
By initially limiting the points, no one feels compelled to run dungeons all day, and the raid remains interesting for a bit longer, keeping the “World First” race exciting.
What do you think about the abolition of the caps? Is it the right time? Or is it too early or too late?
