The “Froggers” are being targeted in World of Warcraft. The exploiters are losing something – and all others are being rewarded.
Just over a week ago, “WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria” launched, enticing players with numerous rewards and the promise of nearly endless character progression. A few players found an exploit to farm the necessary currency Bronze and to upgrade the artifact cloak to dizzying heights – all within the first three days.
Although Blizzard has now fixed the exploit (and many others), the power of the characters remained – until now. Because now the developers are cracking down, taking power away from the cheaters and rewarding everyone else.
What happened? These exploiters were known as “Frogger” or “Frog Farmer” because they exploited the hyperspawn of frogs. This was possible on the Timeless Isle and allowed them to not only farm massive amounts of Bronze but also threads for the cloak and even “Minor Followers of Fortune,” which could be exchanged for even more rewards.
The hyperspawn and the high drops from these enemies was a clear exploit – as it was never intended for such massive amounts of loot to drop here.

What is Blizzard doing now? A hotfix is going live in the next few hours that will drastically weaken the cloak of the Frog Farmers. The cloak will be set to a level that a “very dedicated player could realistically achieve” – so they will remain strong, but not stronger than other players who have invested the same amount of time (via forums.blizzard.com).
At the same time, there will be new rewards for all fair players who did not exploit this.
What are the new rewards? Blizzard is implementing 3 new quests tonight that can be obtained at the bazaar in the Jade Forest of Momentus. The quests are available at levels 50, 60, and 70. They grant a large amount of Bronze, specifically 3,000, 7,000, and 30,000 Bronze.
Or in short: Every character at level 70 receives 40,000 Bronze to use freely. Whether you use it to purchase cosmetic rewards or further improve your character is up to you.
By the way, the quests can be repeated on second characters – thus, twinks also receive the bonus of 40,000 Bronze. If you need even more Bronze, we have tips and tricks for quickly farming Bronze.
Characters of the Frog Farmers are excluded from the reward, by the way. They cannot complete the new milestone quests and are left empty-handed.
What do you think of this method of punishment and the reward for everyone else? A good idea or too little?
