Blizzard has responded to the feedback and implemented new items. In WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria you will now become much more powerful much faster.
In WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, you can become powerful. Very powerful. But apparently not powerful enough yet. Because now Blizzard has patched new rewards into the game that allow your character’s power to increase even faster. We will tell you what the new “Spools” are all about.
What new rewards are there? From many activities, there are now “Spools” (in German “Garnrolle” or “Spule”), in different quality levels. These items are essentially greatly improved threads that you can weave into your cloak. This causes the power of the cloak to increase very quickly, so you should feel significant improvements. There are these four variants:
- Minor Spool of Eternal Thread (common)
- Lesser Spool of Eternal Thread (rare)
- Spool of Eternal Thread (epic)
- Greater Spool of Eternal Thread (legendary)
Depending on the rarity level, these items grant a different amount of stats. The legendary variant grants +180 to an attribute. That’s equivalent to 8 to 15 epic threads that can be found so far.
The epic spool grants +100 to an attribute, which corresponds to 5 to 9 epic threads.
If you are not yet level 70, you will receive the smaller spools as rewards, which grant slightly fewer stats – but are still a significant boost at lower levels.
Where can you get these spools? You will receive the new rewards from almost all types of group content. Visiting a raid will earn them for you, but so will completing the various daily quests for dungeons and scenarios. Many achievements also grant the spools – however, not retroactively, which has been criticized by many. In total, there are the following sources for the spools:
- Daily quests at the Eternal Bazaar
- Daily first reward for visiting scenarios, dungeons, and every LFR raid
- World bosses
- Remix achievements
- Chests of the Thunder King from the scenario on the Isle of Thunder
Why did Blizzard introduce these items into the game? Although Blizzard does not state it as clearly, there are likely several reasons why these new rewards have been implemented.
- On the one hand, there were many voices saying that there were too few rewards in Remix that represented a clear, immediate power increase. The many threads come in regularly, but these are always just small increases. Now, larger jumps can be made with the spools.
- The second reason is likely the exploit of the ‘Frog Farm’. Here a small fraction of players were able to accumulate an extreme amount of power within the first two days, thus having an almost insurmountable lead.
Although the new rewards do not reduce the lead, the power increase of one’s own character is noticeably more pronounced.
Ultimately, one should see the spools for what they are: A nice boost that means a clear leap forward, but cannot replace persistent gameplay. However, if you only have a little time every day, you will feel significant progress with the spools. Otherwise, you can also farm bronze quite well – you will also become stronger quickly.
