Fan creations are often something beautiful. Often they are just small quest lines that one spins together. However, some particularly dedicated fans take their love for their games to a whole different level. A prime example is the user “Golden Yak”, who has devised a complete addon for World of Warcraft! The thoughts are not that far away, because with “Azshara” it could actually be the next WoW expansion.
Because his creativity far exceeds the average, we want to introduce you to his creation here…
I want to emphasize again that this is a fan creation and not official Blizzard plans!
The Reign of Azshara
One of the still untouched threats from Azeroth is undoubtedly the former Empress of the Night Elves and current ruler over the Naga: Azshara. She is considered one of the greatest sorceresses even by current standards of lore and since Neptulon was enslaved, she is probably the undisputed ruler of the seas. With her newly gained power, she raises the ancient kingdom “Zin-Ashari”, the former magic stronghold of the Elves, from the sea to strike over the lands of the peoples. Because “Golden Yak” does not do things by halves, he has directly created a map that Blizzard could probably adopt without edits.
The World in Brief Overview
With the new land masses, the race between Horde and Alliance begins anew. The Alliance secures Kul’Tiras, and through Lady Jaina Proudmoore, there are still good contacts with the seafaring people. The Horde, in turn, takes control of “Plunder Isle”, a former pirate stronghold. Then it goes directly to the new leveling areas, all of which have a specific theme. “Delassar Reef” is a coral forest that now lies above the sea surface. The former underwater creatures are now fighting a desperate battle for survival.
In “Sailgrave”, thousands of ships that have found their doom near the Maelstrom for centuries lie. The crews have never left this place, which is why they now pollute the area as undead.
“Kezan” is a well-known location, as the Goblins flew from there in Cataclysm. Now, all sorts of peoples are returning to secure the island and the treasures buried there, including the two opposing factions.
Finally, there is the small island Tel Abim, which serves as a new PvP area. Alliance and Horde are fighting over perhaps the most important resource of the Mediterranean: The Tel’Abim bananas (and whatever else rests there)!
Warships instead of Garrison
Because good things must be preserved, the garrison will be adapted into the addon, albeit in a slightly different form: Instead of a stationary base, this time you will own a proud warship that you can place in various locations at sea. Of course, there will again be numerous followers, various bonuses, and customization options to adapt the floating home to the needs of the modern Blood Elf. A large campaign revolves around the conquest of the seas, and daily randomly generated islands are to keep the thirst for exploration high and also provide incentive to regularly stay on the ship even after weeks.
4. Specialization for all classes!
To bring a bit of fresh air to the talent system, every class will receive a fourth specialization. Warlocks will fully embrace their demonic side and now possess melee abilities, making them tanks. Mages receive the new specialization “Blood Magic” and can henceforth harass enemies as ranged tanks. Shamans will finally abandon all the “Harmony and Balance” talk and receive a “Chaos” specialization that makes use of the destructive power of the elements without restraint. All new specializations are very well thought out, and a few abilities are even mentioned each time. Only the druid comes away empty-handed – as he already has 4 specializations.
Features, Features, Features!
In the mind of “Golden Yak” there is much more. He has described detailed instances, already planned future patches, and the development of the storyline, and even thought up entirely new races that have lived in the depths of the sea so far. Here are a few concept drawings:
Anyone who wants to dive even deeper into the very detailed addon idea and is proficient in English should check out the forum post from mmo-champion.
In any case, this is a great idea that I would implement immediately if I had any decision-making power at Blizzard – what do you think about it?
