The PvP ratings in World of Warcraft are being revised. There will be a ranking system, similar to what players might know from Overwatch.
With Battle for Azeroth, the PvP system of World of Warcraft is being revised again. Instead of a simple rating in arenas and in rated battlegrounds, there will be various ranks that players can achieve in PvP. The corresponding rank depends on the skill rating achieved.
What ranks will there be?
- 0 – 1400: No Rank
- 1375 – 1600: Fighter
- 1575 – 1800: Challenger
- 1775 – 2100: Rival
- 2075 – 2400: Duelist
- 2375+: Gladiator
Why do the ranks overlap? The small transition zones are probably there so that players cannot immediately fall out of a rank when they have just achieved it. This creates a small “safety zone,” and one must lose at least twice to drop in rank.
What changes will be made to the reward system? Along with the rank system, there will also be a revision of the rewards in PvP. The item level of the rewards is set to be higher than in Legion. As a rough guideline, Blizzard mentioned a rating of 1600-1800, which offers rewards equivalent to “normal raid difficulty.” A higher rating would then correspondingly be rewarded with better rewards.
How does this affect armor unlocks? The Gladiator sets and associated items will no longer be unlocked at the end of a season, but as soon as a character reaches the required rating (rating or rank). You will no longer have to wait until the end of a season but can immediately adorn yourself with the new design.
Corresponding symbols will represent the ranks.
What do you think of the changes to PvP? Do you think it’s good that WoW will soon have ranks like in Overwatch?
