In the race for the World First Kill of Gallywix, the current final boss in World of Warcraft, the Americans are in the lead.
In World of Warcraft, a “hot phase” has returned, as the “Race to World First” is underway – the race to see who can defeat the current final boss at the highest difficulty first. This time, it is the Chromking Gallywix, the leader of the goblins of Lorenhall, who is waiting to be peeled out of his chromatic armor in his large mech.
Although the race has been going on for several days, it has been relatively unspectacular so far – aside from some exploits and bugs.
Liquid is in the lead – but the lead is small
What is the current status? Currently (as of: 09.03.2025, 12:00 PM via raider.io), the race looks as follows:
- Rank 1: Liquid (US) has killed 3 out of 8 bosses and is currently working on Stix Kojenschrotter, whom they have already brought down to 11.62% health.
- Rank 2: Instant Dollars (US) has also killed 3 out of 8 bosses, but prefers to take on the boss Ritzelkrämer Lockenstock and is currently at 74.39%.
- Rank 3: Echo (EU) is also at 3 out of 8 bosses and is fighting against Ritzelkrämer Lockenstock with 79.09% health.
- Rank 4: Method (EU) is lagging a bit. They have only defeated 2 out of 8 bosses and are still fighting against Rik Resonanz, bringing him down to 13.30%.
In total, nearly 20 guilds have managed to defeat 2 out of 8 bosses.
However, one shouldn’t speak of a “pre-decision” just yet. Typically, several guilds reach the final boss before any guild is actually able to defeat him. Therefore, it can be expected that the professionals will spend another week or two with the raid, and especially the penultimate boss (Mug’Zee) and the last one (Chromking Gallywix) will keep the best guilds in the world busy for quite a while.

Why is it progressing so slowly? The raid “Liberation of Lorenhall” is not only very difficult on “mythic”, but even the heroic version of the raid has pushed many guilds to their limits. It took several days to defeat the heroic version of the final boss Chromking Gallywix – something that usually happens on the first day.
Since the professional guilds need loot from the heroic raid to prepare their characters as well as possible, not much happened in the first few days that was “actively” related to the race.
For a brief moment, it even seemed like the race for the “World First Kill” was already over. Because one guild came out of nowhere and grabbed the victory and the first spot in the Hall of Fame. However, this was a group of cheaters using exploits and hacks to defeat Gallywix with brand new characters.
