A new bug in World of Warcraft has players scratching their heads. Suddenly, the PvP season has ended. What is going on?
Those wanting to engage in rated PvP in World of Warcraft might be scratching their heads in confusion. It seems that without any prior notice, the current PvP season in WoW has come to an end. What’s happening?
What happened? To the surprise of PvP fans in World of Warcraft, the game’s interface suddenly announced that the PvP season has ended. We are now in the “Off-Season,” which is the time between two seasons.
The transition to the Off-Season typically occurs with the release of a major patch, but it is usually announced beforehand. Therefore, the PvP rankings for arenas and battlegrounds can no longer be affected.
Blizzard is already on the case: The developers at Blizzard are aware of the bug and have mentioned in a post that they are working on it.
The bug will be fixed as soon as possible and will likely be resolved with a hotfix. However, it is still unknown how long it will take to resolve this issue. This could prove to be difficult, as a large part of the development team is currently on vacation with their families and will not return to work for a few days.
Why is this frustrating? In the Off-Season, the calculations for PvP rewards have already been completed. Anyone still hoping to achieve a high rating for the end-of-season rewards will be out of luck. This is particularly frustrating for a rank of the PvP essence for the Heart of Azeroth, namely “Conflict and Strife.” Some players may now be denied this because of the premature end of the season.
This theory has players speculating: Many players do not believe this error was a coincidence and suspect a different reason.
They think that the end of the PvP season had been set for many months and was supposed to take place shortly after the launch of Patch 8.3 Visions of N’Zoth. However, this patch seems to have been delayed, and the WoW birthday event was extended. There was also further evidence of this, as Blizzard promoted content for Christmas that didn’t even exist yet.
As soon as Blizzard has a fix for the situation, the past PvP season will likely be resumed.
