A new feature of World of Warcraft caused surprise at BlizzCon. PvP will soon also be possible against NPCs, that is, bots.
At BlizzCon last weekend, many upcoming innovations of World of Warcraft were discussed. In addition to a lot of new features from Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara, the focus was also on the “smaller” interim patches, such as update 8.1.5.
In the interim patches, the developers introduce smaller features and refinements that would otherwise get lost in the hustle and bustle of a major patch.
One of these highlights is the “Arathi Comp Stomp”: A PvP battleground against computer-controlled opponents.
Arathi Basin with Island Technology: The basis for this PvP brawl will be the technology of the “smart” NPCs used on Island Expeditions. Blizzard aims to utilize the same technology to create a PvP brawl featuring 15 bots as opponents. These are expected to act intelligently and provide a real challenge in Arathi Basin.
How difficult this brawl will actually be remains to be seen. But likely, Blizzard will lean more towards the heroic or mythic Island Expeditions, otherwise the opponents wouldn’t pose much of a challenge.
A contradiction in itself: Some players critically note that hosting a PvP brawl against “PvE opponents” is clearly a contradiction. However, most players are looking forward to this variation on Arathi. Since it is just a temporary brawl, they see it as a welcome change.
During the presentation of this idea, it was even read “You’re welcome, Alliance” – a clear reference to the fact that the Alliance would never win in the Arathi Basin otherwise. While this doesn’t correspond to reality, it reflects the “feeling” of many players: “After all, we have the stables.”
