To enter a dungeon in World of Warcraft, some players resort to dirty tricks. It’s unfortunate if they get caught.
If you want to be taken into a “Mythic+” dungeon in World of Warcraft as a DPS character, you have to wait quite a long time – because there are damage dealers like sand on the beach. However, those who see the perfect key and want to sneak into the group also resort to nasty methods that can go as far as defaming other group members.
It’s unfortunate if you get caught in the act.
What happened? In the WoW subreddit, player FrickleStyn published a dialogue that took place between him and an applicant (a Demon Hunter) in the group finder tool. The foreign player wanted to convince the group leader that “the Paladin” in the group was unreliable. He claimed he had “ruined the key” in the previous group by dying multiple times during a boss fight.
What’s the truth of the story? Nothing at all. Because what the Demon Hunter didn’t know: The group leader and the mentioned Paladin were friends who had been sitting together in Discord the whole time and could naturally rule out that there was any truth to the story. When the Demon Hunter is confronted, he admits that he just wanted to join the group with his Shaman friend because he really wanted to play the respective key.
Community finds it amusing, but also knows tips: The WoW community appreciates the story, many are astonished by the audacity with which lies are told to secure a place in a group. However, some also have tips on how to remember such shady individuals:
- “I use the addon “I Remember You”, which allows you to attach notes to all individuals and mark people who actually ruin your keys or were particularly good.” – dharkan
- “Of course it was a Demon Hunter. Why am I not surprised?” – Saked-
- “And I thought PvP was toxic. This is really the next level.” – Xrupz
Such curious incidents happen from time to time – but World of Warcraft also has a long history with players who come up with interesting lies or excuses to join a group or even to skip a raid. Unforgettable is also the faked arm fracture.
