The gold earnings in World of Warcraft have been drastically reduced. Many players are going broke and have to give up some bonuses.
Why is the community complaining? In the last expansions, there was at least a steady flow of gold without much effort. Whether through world quests or “table missions”, any player could earn a few thousand gold pieces per week without much effort. That was enough to at least finance the “WoW daily routine”. This is no longer the case.
Giving up on many things: More and more players are complaining that they can no longer obtain the necessary resources through “normal play” to buy basic items in the game.
- Repair costs often rise to 700 or 800 gold coins, making “Mythic+” dungeons a new luxury for many players.
- Others give up their bonus tokens, which also add up to 6,000 gold per week.
- Reputation rewards, such as mounts or gear, are also shunned due to their cost.
Twinks will have it a bit better soon – they no longer need to collect flight points.
Players want new sources of income: There should be easier income opportunities in Battle for Azeroth again. The table missions that grant gold should be buffed by at least 200% to make them worthwhile. Otherwise, they are just a waste of war resources for many – which many players also do not collect anymore since world quests no longer fulfill a purpose for them.
Currently, the gold quests grant between 75 and 225 gold pieces – too little and too rare, as many players find.
A reduction in repair costs is desired: Many players wish that repair costs would simply be reduced to a fixed value of 50%. This would already relieve a great burden and the characters would no longer be starving.
Whether it becomes more bearable with Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance remains to be seen.
What is your opinion on the current gold earning in World of Warcraft? Is it too hard for casual players? Or is it good that gold is harder to earn again and that players have to save more often?
