Ingenious players have discovered a small detail in the Barrens of World of Warcraft. Is a Warfront slumbering there?
One of the major announced features of Battle for Azeroth, the upcoming expansion of World of Warcraft, is the Warfronts. In these PvE missions, characters reenact battles reminiscent of Warcraft 3. So far, only the Warfront in Arathi Highlands is known – but now the Barrens is also being discussed.
Strange music in the Barrens. Since Patch 8.0, some players have noticed strange music playing while flying over the Southern Barrens. This is the brand-new soundtrack from Battle for Azeroth, specifically pieces from the collection “Horde Warfronts Music”. This suggests that the Barrens will also be a Warfront in the future.
Map gives further hints. Dataminers have also extracted individual maps that are already hidden in the game files. One bears the suspicious name “WarfrontBarrens” – so translated “Warfront Barrens”. However, this phase cannot yet be accessed.
What conflict Blizzard wants to stage in the Barrens is still unclear. The Alliance has, apart from the Exodar far in the northwest, no particularly large fortification left on Kalimdor. After all, Darnassus has been destroyed and Theramore was destroyed years ago. Perhaps the Elf camps in Feralas will be expanded or entirely new fortifications erected. At least in the quests from the Barrens, both factions are at war there anyway and each has its own fortification. Whether that is still “current” is another question.

How exactly the conflict in the Barrens arises – that will likely be revealed by the story of Battle for Azeroth.
Are you looking forward to the fact that there will finally be action in the notorious Barrens chat again?
