The new houses for characters in World of Warcraft are expected to arrive sooner than planned. It is set to start in 2025 – the roadmap is now clear.
Recently, the plans for World of Warcraft were presented at Warcraft Direct. The biggest new feature announced was probably the long-awaited “Player Housing.” From now on, the heroes of Azeroth will be able to build their own homes and finally have a place to rest from their adventures.
This feature is set to start with the next expansion “Midnight.” However, it has now become clear that this will likely happen in 2025.

The next addon for WoW could arrive in 2025
Where does the info come from? Blizzard recently published the roadmap for the year 2025. This spans from Winter 2024 to Winter 2025. At the same location where the start of “Legion Remix” is expected, a small, cryptic symbol was inserted. The rune of a Hearthstone, which roughly resembled a house.
After much speculation, Blizzard revised the roadmap once again and has now clearly replaced the symbol with a house icon. This makes it clear: The housing feature is likely coming in early Winter 2025.
What does this mean for Midnight? Since the housing feature is part of the next addon “Midnight,” this provides clarity about the release of the next expansion or rather the major “Pre-Patch 12.0.” This would also mean that it would need to start no later than December 2025 so that the housing feature can go live. This in turn would mean that Midnight would have its official release either still in December 2025 or in January or February 2026 – much earlier than many expected.
Are there concerns? Yes, there are. Because strictly speaking, the “Winter 2025” as a whole also extends into the year 2026, so one could also interpret the roadmap conservatively. However, since the symbol appears right at the beginning of Winter 2025, it is reasonable to assume that it refers to the current year as well – just like with Patch 11.0.7.
Furthermore, there are some concerns in the community that housing could receive a sort of “early access,” perhaps as a preorder bonus for Midnight. In that case, only a portion of players might enjoy the feature by Christmas 2025, while the rest would have to wait for the release of Midnight. But even that would probably be bearable.
But it is also clear that the plans are still just aspirations and that’s exactly what they are: plans. They could certainly change over the course of the coming year. However, currently, World of Warcraft is delivering regularly and meeting the target schedules. We want to know what features housing absolutely needs – Tell us your opinion!
