There is still good support in World of Warcraft. A game master shows a player that even small problems can be wonderfully solved.
Even though World of Warcraft is often controversially discussed among players, there is one aspect of the MMORPG where there is almost always agreement: Support has been getting worse over the years. Direct contact with game masters has decreased, much is automated, and wait times are unbearably long.
However, Blizzard also provides really good support with heart, as shown by the story of Rendarion.
What happened? The hunter Rendarion had an unusual problem. He simply could not rename one of his two hunter pets. He tried to give his dog the name ‘Dalen’. This was to be a reminder of his dog from the real world, whom he had to euthanize a few days ago due to old age.
However, there was an error, so the name change could not be made. There was only one thing left: to write a ticket to a game master.
What did the game master do? The game master ‘Rinadar’ took care of the matter and responded quite extensively:
I looked at the problem and found no difficulties with renaming pets. I thought that the name might not be allowed, but saw nothing of the sort on any of our lists. I was also not exactly sure which of your characters it was, but I believe it was the grassland wolf named ‘Hound’ of your hunter Rendarion.
Since I found no reasons [for the failure of the renaming], I tried to manually rename the dog myself. This is not something a game master would normally do, but to test it, I made an exception. I noticed no issues with the renaming. The dog is now named Dalen. (…)

In the mailbox, Rendarion then had a stack of ‘treats’ to feed his dog with.
Community reacts positively: At a time when there are complaints mainly about the WoW support and the strong automation, examples like this stand out positively. More than 2,000 upvotes were given for the little story and much praise from the community in the WoW subreddit. A few excerpts from it:
