Achievement points in World of Warcraft are actually worthless – and yet some collect them diligently. One player has 40,000 of them and reports on his hunt.
Achievements or also known as successes have been a controversial topic in World of Warcraft since their introduction with the pre-patch of Wrath of the Lich King. Some find the hunt for achievement points pointless, while others find their main motivation to play in it. Nate642, a Reddit user, probably belongs to the latter group, who boasts about his achievement.
What has Nate accomplished? In the World of Warcraft subreddit, he posted a screenshot where he proudly presents his accumulation of a total of 40,000 achievement points. He also asks: ‘What does this ‘outside’ actually mean?’ sarcastically implying that he basically never leaves his apartment and instead farms achievements.
Out of a total of 4,676 achievements, he has completed 4,503 – that’s just over 96% of all achievements available.
Nate still has the biggest gaps in PvP and exploration. The achievements for a high rating in arenas or rated battlegrounds pose some difficulties. However, some friendly community players have already offered to help him get the achievements ‘quickly before the start of Season 2.’
Which achievement is the most annoying? Nate642 is particularly annoyed by one achievement that was introduced with patch 10.0.5 and the Trading Post and has become unreachable for a whole year. To achieve the ‘Trading Post Enthusiast’ achievement, it is necessary to accumulate the maximum amount of traveling points over a total of 12 months. However, this is only possible at the earliest in January 2024. Until then, it will not be possible for anyone to complete all current achievements in WoW.
But Nate also found some other achievements particularly ‘painful’. Especially achievements that simply take a lot of time without any interesting mechanics or accomplishments, he finds exhausting. Completing 10,000 pet battles proved to be a true test of patience – but the various achievements surrounding archaeology in ‘Warlords of Draenor’ were also tiring and consumed many hours.
