Not everything in World of Warcraft is self-explanatory. Some objects in the capital have a long story – that hardly anyone knows about today.
World of Warcraft has existed for over 20 years and those who now dive into the game world will not understand everything right away. The world has changed frequently and some monument or object in the environment can cause confusion. Sometimes it requires the help of veterans to explain seemingly obvious things.
Which object is it about? In the WoW subreddit, thilkerbaumer asked what the large reddish-brown object in Stormwind is that is displayed by the lake. He received the question from a coworker who had looked into the game again after many years. However, the thread creator did not know the answer himself and could not find it in the game’s wiki. Luckily, there are veterans who could explain it:
The player cerin616 explained briefly:
“That is a jaw fragment of Deathwing. We defeated him in Dragon Soul at the end of Cataclysm.”
Displaying parts of dragons has a long tradition in World of Warcraft. Even the heads of Onyxia and Nefarian were displayed in Stormwind back then. It is not surprising that a part of Deathwing is given the same “honor”.
Can you learn this in the game? Yes, the information is still all available. You can still simply walk into the raid “Dragon Soul” and take down Deathwing to find exactly this fragment of Deathwing’s jaw – because that is where the loot from the boss fight is.
Alternatively, you could also simply approach the jaw fragment in Stormwind and keep your eyes peeled. Because below the fragment stands Chromie (one of her many versions) and also reveals what the fragment is about. However, the gnome is extremely small compared to the item, so you might overlook her.
- “I always found it funny when you start as a Dracthyr, Ebonhorn explains the current situation in front of your ‘father’.” – robcraftdocta
- “BACK IN MY TIME, DEATHWING MURDERED US ON OUR WAY TO ULDUM FROM THE SKY. ROUND TRIP.” – bryroo
- “WoW players do not know who Deathwing is. Do you feel old yet?” – HeroicYogurt
It is also not surprising that many of the younger players do not know all the old things in World of Warcraft. After all, many secrets have accumulated over the decades that have little to do with the current story. If you are into secrets in WoW, we have presented many of them here.
