Yarrr! Today is Pirate Day in World of Warcraft – and with a new toy!
Once a year, all pirates gather in Azeroth to let their souls dangle, drink rum in even larger quantities than usual, and splash around with rubber ducks in the sea – on Pirate Day! Only today, on September 19, players can travel to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale to enjoy the festivities with the local pirates.
Captain DeMeza is waiting in Booty Bay for anyone wanting to play buccaneer for a day, offering not only rum but also a little hummingbird for your shoulder. While it’s not a real parrot, let’s not be too picky.
In 2017, there is, for the first time, a new toy from Edward Techt – you can find him south of Booty Bay on the beach. Those who have completed the achievement “Set Sail, Admiral!” can buy the Pirate Flag as a new toy from Edward.
For the achievement, you must have at least a friendly reputation with the Bloodsail Buccaneers – and that’s not very easy. You need to set Booty Bay to “at war” (can be done in the reputation window) and kill goblins until the pirates start to like you. This can take days, if not weeks, depending on what the current reputation status with the pirates looks like (typically deep red “Hated”).
If you do not yet have the required reputation with the Bloodsail Buccaneers, you need to hurry. Because Pirate Day ends tomorrow, on September 20, 2017, at 10:00 AM. Only those who are friendly by then can secure the toy.
Cortyn says: I knew that farming the title “the Insane” would pay off someday – albeit nearly 10 years later. I do feel a little sorry for the players who are now desperately trying to go from Hated to Friendly in one evening. It’s probably best not to try to quest in Stranglethorn Vale today, as most NPCs will be permanently dead.
