WoW Patch Notes for Patch 11.1.7
NEW CAMPAIGN QUEST LINE: THE RISE OF THE RED TWILIGHT
While all eyes are on Khaz Algar, a new enemy is wreaking havoc in the Arathi Highlands, threatening the fragile peace between Stromgarde and Hammerfall. Join Faerin, Danath, and Geya’rah to uncover a conspiracy, de-escalate tensions, and confront the legacy of Arathor. Experience this new storyline from different perspectives, depending on your character’s faction, as you embark on an adventurous journey.
Players will receive some new rewards for their efforts:
- Alliance player characters receive a new tabard from Stromgarde and the title “[Name] of Stromgarde”.
- Horde player characters receive a new tabard from Hammerfall and the title “[Name] of Hammerfall”.
- All player characters receive the transmog Shoulders of the Lamp-lighter, inspired by Faerin’s shoulders.
JOIN LOREWALKER CHO ON A LORE QUEST
Visit Lorewalker Cho in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, or Dornegal and dive into legendary moments in the history of Azeroth. Players from level 10 can discover three hand-picked repeatable storylines by Lorewalker Cho to learn more about Xal’atath, the Astral beings, and the Lich King. Each storyline consists of old and new quests.
- Xal’atath: Xal’atath the Harbinger was once known as the Sword of the Black Empire. Her story is a well-kept secret. But her words and actions have affected so many that she cannot be ignored. Her story must be told.
- Astral: Mysterious and elusive beings who traverse our world speak little about their past. However, from the few things they reveal, one can learn a lot.
- The Lich King: Arthas Menethil. It is said that when he was born, the forests of Lordaeron whispered his name. But did the forests of his youth know what he would ultimately become?
For completing each quest line, you will receive additional rewards, including three new toys:
- Echo of Xal’atath, Blade of the Black Empire: Calls forth your memory of Xal’atath. Her voice echoes with joy occasionally when you kill an adversary.
- Memory Crystal of K’aresh: Take on the appearance of a K’areshi.
- Royal Visage: Calls forth your memory of the story of Arthas Menethil. You take on his appearance. “Prince … or King?”

NEW USER INTERFACE OPTIONS: HIGHLIGHT SUGGESTIONS AND SINGLE KEY ASSISTANT
“Highlight Suggestions” is a new feature in the game that suggests the recommended next ability based on resources and the character’s situation. This function is intended for new players who wish to try a new specialization or need extra help with the abilities they should use, without relying on external apps or guides. This new feature is an additional option in the base UI so that you can better manage the damage rotation regardless of specialization.
Additionally, the Single Key Assistant can activate the next recommended ability in the sequence. This assistant is designed to have a short additional global cooldown between abilities so that it can still help learn new abilities or assist those who require extra support – or to experience the story or the game in a somewhat more relaxed manner. It also indicates the use of area damage spells (AoE) or targeting multiple targets.
These two new options should help lower the entry barriers for new players or players trying to discover new characters in a way that suits them. The new cooldown manager introduced in 11.1.5 will continue to be developed. To activate the “Highlight Suggestions” and the Single Key Assistant, open the Game Menu, go to Options, and select Gameplay Enhancements.

THE GREEDY EMBASSY RETURNS IN THE WEEK OF JULY 1
The treasure goblins return for the “Greedy Embassy” event! During this event, you can encounter even more of these sneaky, greedy envoys in Orgrimmar, Dornegal, and Lorenhall and secure new devilish rewards – including a mount. But watch out, these treasure goblins are out for revenge and now bring random affixes that make them even stronger than before. Do not miss out on some truly legendary rewards, including new colors for classic armor sets of level 2 for your characters.
As part of this event, there is also a collection chance boost that helps you in your hunt for classic loot by increasing the drop chances for this loot throughout Azeroth. We will share more details as the release date approaches.
CLASSES
- New ability: Take a break, make yourself something to eat, and dig in. Heals you for 50% of your maximum health over 10 seconds.
TIMEWALKING DUNGEONS
- Developer’s comment: These changes aim to allow Timewalking dungeons to be experienced more authentically by providing players with more abilities and allowing them to practice the damage rotations, healing spells, or defense of their class. If players wish to use Timewalking dungeons for level-ups, they should learn their class in realistic combat encounters, especially against bosses. This will also reward players who take the time to collect more powerful gear, as better gear will increase damage, healing, and survivability. We will actively monitor tests and feedback and make further adjustments as necessary.
- Enemy health has been increased in all Timewalking dungeons.
- Boss health has been substantially increased in all Timewalking dungeons.
- Difficulty scaling has been adjusted with the following changes:
- Player characters with low-level gear receive slightly less damage.
- Incoming damage should be significantly more noticeable for better-equipped player characters.
- A bug has been fixed where scaling with item level did not include enchantments, gems, and other power sources.
- Timewalking dungeons now reward Adventurer-level gear (previously Explorer).
- The reward for completing a Timewalking dungeon now includes 25 time-worn badges (previously 10).
USER INTERFACE AND ACCESSIBILITY
- COOLDOWN MANAGER
- The sections for essential cooldowns and strategic cooldowns in the cooldown manager now show information about totems (such as the Totem of Earthbinding or Healing Stream) and summons that are also tracked in the totem window (such as Earth Elementals and Fearstalkers).
- The tip for minimizing the spellbook has been removed.
