The next patch of World of Warcraft is closer than we thought. First information about Patch 9.2 has already been found.
In World of Warcraft, Patch 9.1.5 was just released, bringing numerous improvements to the gameplay. However, the update did not have a lot of new content, which is why many players are already eagerly looking at Patch 9.2.
It was suspected that initial signs of the patch were still far away. However, there is now good news: initial signs of the patch have already been discovered!
What has been discovered? The first encrypted files have already arrived on Blizzard’s Content Delivery Network (CDN). The information has been updated and elevated from Patch 9.1.5 to Patch 9.2. This is an initial indication that the patch may soon arrive in its first version on the PTR.
When will Patch 9.2 be released? It is still too early to predict a reliable release date. However, considering that major patches are usually tested for 2 to 3 months, one could expect a release no earlier than February 2022. In the worst case, it could also be March or April 2022 – depending on how well the development is progressing.
Until then, WoW players will have to make do with the current content. There are indeed several smaller contents still upcoming, such as the Timewalking: Legion with the Mage Tower, WoW’s birthday event, and the Winter Veil festival – however, none of this is really “fresh” content and is unlikely to last long.
Is anything coming after Patch 9.2? That is a good question. Usually, a WoW expansion consists of 3 major patches. However, the numerous delays may have led the developers to simply scrap Patch 9.3 or integrate parts of it into Update 9.2. Then Shadowlands could come to a conclusion faster – much like it happened with “Warlords of Draenor”.
At that time, the rushed ending was heavily criticized, but ultimately led to the very popular expansion “Legion.” Whether WoW can pull off this trick again or stick to the plans for Patch 9.3, we will likely find out in the coming months as well.
Because Game Director Ion Hazzikostas has promised that we will learn more about the conclusion of Shadowlands in “not so far off future”.
