A change on the PTR of Patch 9.1 in World of Warcraft brings positive vibes. The accumulated Soul Ash finally has a purpose again.
Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination of World of Warcraft is currently on the PTR and regularly brings new features. One of them should delight fans of alternate characters. Because soon there will be the possibility to transfer Soul Ash between characters, thus reducing the farm time for individual characters. However, some Soul Ash will be lost in the process.
What item is available? On the PTR, the item “Packed Soul Ash” has been discovered. This is an account-bound item that costs 1,500 Soul Ash and grants 1,300 Soul Ash upon use. With Soul Ash, you craft legendary items or upgrade them in Shadowlands.
What does the item do? With this item, it will be possible to transfer Soul Ash between characters. There will be several options available. For example, you can:
- Send Soul Ash from your main character to twinks so they can craft a high-ranking legendary item early.
- Alternatively, you can send the Soul Ash from twinks to your main character if you want to possess all legendary items with him – for whatever reason.
Basically, players have more freedom in how they want to farm Soul Ash. For instance, if someone doesn’t enjoy playing a Paladin in Torghast and prefers to go there as a Mage, they could collect the Soul Ash with the Mage and then send it to their Paladin.
Note that when purchasing the item, approximately 13% of the Soul Ash is lost. Of the purchase price of 1,500 Soul Ash, only 1,300 Soul Ash remains.
It is still unclear whether the item needs to be unlocked or if all characters can purchase it immediately. According to the item description, it will be sold by Ve’nari in the Maw.
More twink-friendly features in Shadowlands are the goal: Although Shadowlands has an alternative leveling path for alternate characters with the Threads of Fate, many players find the twink-friendliness of the expansion rather low. Massive grinds like Anima to upgrade the Sanctum hinder the enjoyment of playing secondary characters. With adjustments like this to Soul Ash, Blizzard is taking small steps to satisfy players.
When will the item be available? Probably with the release of Patch 9.1. It is still on the PTR, and there is currently no release date. However, no one should expect the patch’s release before mid-June.
What do you think about the possibility of being able to send Soul Ash back and forth between your characters? A good opportunity to get rid of all the ash from your main character? Or do you not have any leftovers anyway?
