The latest patch for World of Warcraft is live. We reveal the most important changes of Patch 8.3 Visions of N’Zoth and how to get into the patch.
After an extremely long phase on the PTR, the latest update of World of Warcraft is now live. The Patch 8.3 Visions of N’Zoth has been playable since this morning (January 15, 2020) and the new content can be explored. We provide a brief overview of the highlights of the patch.
This is what you do first in Patch 8.3
New storyline right at the start: Right after logging in, most players at level 120 are likely to be offered a quest that leads them to Magni. The questline is expected to take 1-2 hours and also introduces most of the new content.
The questline is historically significant and explains the implications of the threat posed by N’Zoth and why the heroes must take action.
Revised areas Uldum and Vale of Eternal Blossoms: Most of the action in the patch takes place in Uldum and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. These areas are constantly attacked by N’Zoth’s minions and offer a world quest each, several daily quests, and the “usual trinkets” from endgame zones: hidden treasures, pets, toys, rare enemies, and plenty of other rewards.
A regular visit to these areas is worthwhile, especially in War Mode, as there is even more loot there.
Legendary cloak available for everyone: Although Battle for Azeroth does not have legendaries like in Legion, there is now a legendary cloak for all players. You unlock this during the introductory quest and can continuously improve it afterwards. The cloak not only has powerful stats but also strengthens resistance against corruption – a new game mechanic that can appear on gear as well as some bosses in the raid Ny’alotha.
Disturbing Visions as mini-dungeons: As a new type of “mini-dungeons”, there are disturbing visions that resemble the Chromie scenario a bit. Here you must experience the corrupted versions of Stormwind and Orgrimmar while completing tasks and defeating bosses. At the beginning, you can only stay for a few minutes, as madness threatens to overwhelm your character. Over the weeks, your understanding of the visions will improve, allowing you to stay longer.
New raid Ny’alotha coming later: For pro players, the new core feature is of course the raid Ny’alotha, the awakened city. However, the raid starts, as usual after patches, some time later. The total of 12 bosses can be tackled a few days later, at least in normal and heroic mode. The mythic mode and LFR modes will follow later.
