The next patch of World of Warcraft is still a while away. This year we probably won’t see N’Zoth anymore.
Even though the current hot topic in World of Warcraft is the next expansion “Shadowlands”, first the release of Patch 8.3 “Visions of N’Zoth” is still pending. As Blizzard has stated, that will not happen anymore this year, so we will not experience the assault of the Old God in 2019.
When will Patch 8.3 be released? Blizzard hasn’t given a specific date yet, only “early in 2020”. So a date in January is expected.
Why is the patch coming so late? Blizzard has several reasons for the relatively late date. On the one hand, they do not want to release new content over Christmas so that “players are not encouraged to choose between progress in the game and time with their family”.
At the same time, there are still many guilds that are still attempting the heroic or mythic version of the Eternal Palace. Here, they want to allow more time for these guilds to achieve progress and earn their successes.
Another, unnamed reason is likely that they could not respond to urgent bugs after the patch release, as most developers are on holiday at the end of the year.
No content until 2020? However, fans of World of Warcraft do not have to completely miss out on new content. As of today (November 6, 2019), the birthday event of World of Warcraft is live. There are three new raid wings with well-known bosses from past expansions. Additionally, there is a hefty reputation and XP bonus, as well as a very special mount that looks like Deathwing as a reward for completing all three raid wings.
A possible date for Patch 8.3 could be January 8 – as that is when the birthday event ends. However, that is just speculation.
