Island expeditions will be even more rewarding in Patch 8.1 of World of Warcraft. You can farm a mount specifically!
With Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance, many wishes of World of Warcraft players are coming true. One of them involves island expeditions and the seafarer’s doubloons. It seems there will soon be a mount for that.
What kind of mount will there be? The mount is the “Saltwater Seahorse.” The seahorse will likely only be usable underwater, like all the other seahorses in the game.
How much does the seahorse cost? The current price is 500 seafarer’s doubloons. That sounds like a hefty price but is relatively easy to reach if you don’t spend the doubloons immediately. However, for those who can’t find anything enjoyable about island expeditions, it will likely be a tough task.
You will be able to purchase the creature from a new vendor in Boralus or Dazar’Alor.
Please keep in mind that the amount of necessary seafarer’s doubloons may still change, as Patch 8.1 is still on the PTR.
More rewards for doubloons: Besides the seahorse, there are more rewards available for purchase. For example, there is a “Hand Anchor,” a toy that allows you to use an anchor as a weapon, and also a “Cranky Crab” – a crab that your battle pet can ride on.
What are seafarer’s doubloons? Seafarer’s doubloons are a currency that can be earned from island expeditions. You sometimes receive them after completing an island in a reward bag. Alternatively, they can also be found lying around on the islands and can be picked up directly by players.
What do seafarer’s doubloons bring? So far, seafarer’s doubloons only have one single use in the game. They can be traded with a weekly changing vendor who stands in the starting area (the ship) of each island expedition. Here, various buff spells or other useful effects are available to make the island expeditions easier. Aside from that, the doubloons currently have no other use. The seahorse will change that with Patch 8.1.
