The fate of Azeroth is literally hanging by a thread. How it will continue in WoW has now been discovered by dataminers.
At World of Warcraft, a new patch is currently being tested on the PTR. It mainly contains new game data for the raid Antorus, the Burning Throne. According to the developers, the patch will not bring any new content, but rather just bug fixes and final game files for the raid instance.
Of course, dataminers do not believe such things – and they are right to do so!
Spoiler Warning: If you do not want to know how things continue for Azeroth after the next raid, you should urgently close the article now. As the dataminers from wowhead and mmo-champion have discovered, there are some new files in the game that do not directly relate to Antorus. There is also a new map called “SilithusPhase01”. This is a drastically revised Silithus. A huge wound gapes in the ground and golden-black blood, which soaks the sand, flows from the crack – Azeroth is slowly bleeding out.
The continent Kalimdor is currently completely locked on the PTR – apparently Blizzard is trying to hide something there.
Illidan’s Sacrifice and Azeroth’s Wound
As we already know, Illidan will “contain” the Titan Sargeras. But before that can happen, the dark titan launches one last attack on Azeroth and (presumably) hurls his sword at the world. This strikes in Silithus and tears a huge hole in the planet. A last, desperate attempt to destroy the world soul of Azeroth.
Since the map is titled “Phase01”, one can assume that there will be a multipart event leading to the next expansion of World of Warcraft.
This once again seems to confirm that we will get our first look at the next expansion at BlizzCon in November – and it might not be as far away as everyone thinks now.
