Patch 11.2 is the final, major content update for World of Warcraft: The War Within. MeinMMO has compiled all the important details about the new patch.
Although Patch 11.1.7 has just gone live, Blizzard is already working hard on the next major content update for World of Warcraft. To ensure that you are perfectly prepared for the release of “Ghosts of K’aresh”, we have gathered all the important information regarding the patch for you.
Note: The article will be regularly updated as new information about Patch 11.2 becomes available. Currently, the article is up to date as of June 23, 2025.
The most important points at a glance:
- There is still no release date for Patch 11.2, but mid-August is likely.
- Patch 11.2 is the last major content patch of The War Within, followed by smaller updates 11.2.5 and 11.2.7.
- The story of the patch takes place on K’aresh, the destroyed home world of the Ascendants and Mediators.
- There is a new dungeon, Biocap Al’dani.
- There is a new raid, Manaforge Omega, with the Voidlord Dimensius as the final boss.

When will Patch 11.2 be released? Blizzard has not yet announced a fixed release date for Patch 11.2. However, World of Warcraft reliably releases a new patch approximately every 8 weeks. If this rhythm continues, Patch 11.2 is expected to launch around mid-August 2025.
What is Patch 11.2 about?
Story spoilers: This section discusses the story of Patch 11.2.
After the Heart of Darkness was stolen from Xal’atath’s claws by the Ascendants, we travel to K’aresh to prevent the Ascendants from completing their ritual. They aim to summon the Voidlord Dimensius, who would undoubtedly devour Azeroth afterward.
This necessity also leads to unexpected alliances. For Xal’atath is now our ally and even grants us access to parts of her powers. She enchants the cloak and stands by us in the battle against Dimensius.
Alleria – as well as many others – are skeptical about trusting Xal’atath. However, it seems that Xal’atath does not intend to summon Dimensius. She has likely dropped the title “Herald of Dimensius” and is now pursuing her own agenda.
Rishii Wraps – The new artifact cloak
Very early in the story of Patch 11.2, you will receive the “Rishii Wraps” – an artifact cloak. You will upgrade this over time so that it becomes stronger and grants you more abilities.
The most important ability is “Phase Diving”, allowing you to switch between the normal world and an astral plane. In the astral plane, you will see different enemies and secrets than in the physical world. You can also use new types of movement, such as a network of energy – this will also get you into the Manaforge, which will later be the raid.
New raid: Manaforge Omega
The Manaforges from “The Burning Crusade” are back – well, at least in part. Here, the shadow guardians (a faction of the Ascendants) are in the process of resurrecting Dimensius.
Overall, the raid consists of 8 bosses, with “Dimensius the All-Consuming” being the final adversary. Among these 8 encounters, there is also one that is entirely optional. A triumvirate of demon hunters will stand in the heroes’ way – at least if you want to visit them.
By the way, Dimensius will be by far the largest boss we have ever fought in World of Warcraft. He will be so massive that he will overshadow entire cities.
As in the liberation of Lorenhall, there will again be a glory path in the Manaforge Omega, where you will automatically unlock various amenities in the raid, such as vendors or damage buffs over time.
Season 3 of The War Within
With Patch 11.2, the third season of The War Within also begins. This means not only a new raid and new PvP rankings but also a new pool of dungeons that you can play in “Mythic+”. The 8 dungeons of this season are:
- The Hall of Atonement (Shadowlands)
- Tazavesh: Curiously Streets (Shadowlands)
- Tazavesh: So’leah’s Gambit (Shadowlands)
- Ara-Kara, City of Echoes
- The Morningbringer
- Priory of the Holy Flame
- Operation: Dock
- Biocap Al’dani (New)
New here is also that Leavers
will finally receive a penalty. Leaving Mythic+ early will mark you as an account that might not be trustworthy in the future.
What else is in Patch 11.2?
Aside from the major highlights, Patch 11.2 also brings a number of minor details. For instance, roleplay fans will receive a new emote that looks pretty cool on Pandaren. Additionally, there are a number of small improvements, including:
- Depths now indicate on the world map which variant is active.
- Patch 11.2 includes a permanent enhancement rune.
- A new potion allows all characters to use the Night Elf ability “Shadowmimic”, aiming to create more fairness in dungeons.
- Nexus Princess Ky’veza is the new depth final boss in Season 3.
- Dungeons now have clear “checkpoints” in the form of large stones, indicating where you will appear when releasing your spirit.
