The next patch of World of Warcraft is around the corner and is already finished. It’s starting in just a few days. We have all the info.
Patch 11.1.7 is the next small content update for World of Warcraft and brings many small improvements and new features. Now Blizzard has finally announced the release date – and it’s significantly earlier than many expected. It’s starting in just 2 weeks.
When is the release date of patch 11.1.7? The release for patch 11.1.7 is on June 18, 2025 – so in about 2 weeks. As usual, the patch arrives on the US realms a day earlier due to the different maintenance schedules.
The major features of patch 11.1.7
Campaign in Arathi Highlands
Some smaller skirmishes between the Horde and the Alliance are likely to escalate into larger battles in the Arathi Highlands. Notable characters like Faerin, Danath, and Gey’arah are trying to contain the conflicts – but whether they will succeed or if the Horde and Alliance will draw closer to war once more, you will have to experience for yourselves.
The Single-Button Rotation
World of Warcraft has been introducing more improvements and options in recent years to make the game accessible to players who face challenges or do not enjoy certain gameplay systems. Therefore, patch 11.1.7 includes an option that allows you no longer to memorize complex rotations.
The “Single-Button Assistant” ensures that you only need to repeatedly press a single button while still using a variety of your abilities in a sensible manner.
However, this option comes with a small disadvantage, as you will have an increased global cooldown – meaning there will be a bit more time between using abilities. This means that players without this setting will be more powerful.
For those who do not want to deal with complex rotations, this is a good way to play various content that they would otherwise not enjoy.
We have more details about the “Single-Button Rotation” in this article.
Lorewalking – The Story of Warcraft Reexplained
Another new feature is “Lorewalking”. Here you can talk to Lorewalker Cho, who guides you through various quest lines from the story of World of Warcraft. The focus is on the stories of important characters, such as the Lich King or Xal’atath.
Alongside Cho, you experience these old quests bundled together while Cho provides additional context. At the end of each series, there are sometimes a few new missions that summarize the presented content or even open up new storytelling opportunities.
At the beginning, there are 3 stories that you can experience:
- Xal’atath
- The Ethereals
- The Lich King
Additionally, another story has been found in the data mining regarding the elven races. However, when it will be released is still unclear.
Overloaded Depth
The depths are getting a new look, as some depths can now be “overloaded”. You will receive a new, powerful belt that grants special effects during the depths. In return, however, new enemies, traps, and other dangers await in the depths, which in turn reward better equipment.
Whether the depths will remain worthwhile for the rest of season 2 remains to be seen – at least solo fans should get a bit more variety.
What else is in the patch? Aside from the highlights, the timewalking system is also being expanded. 6 dungeons from “Battle for Azeroth” are joining the rotation and offer new rewards.
There will also be the event of the “Greedy Envoy” at a later time, where all classes can earn new colorations of the HD version of the Tier-2 set. At the same time, it should also be significantly easier to obtain rare classic rewards during this event. Whether this only applies to transmog or also includes coveted mounts remains to be seen.
The patch might also be a good moment to convert some other players to WoW…
