In Patch 10.0.5 of World of Warcraft, a new event is waiting for the heroes of Azeroth. Included is an anime reference that should please JoJo fans.
The Patch 10.0.5 of World of Warcraft will be released in January and brings some fresh content. Even though much of it is more like “trivialities,” there is indeed more to do, enriching the overall gameplay of World of Warcraft. In the new event “The Fury of the Storm,” things get wild – so wild that Blizzard even incorporated an anime reference.
What kind of event is this? The event “The Fury of the Storm” takes place in the future of the Primalists. You can reach this, as is now common, in Patch 10.0.5 via a portal at the bronze dragonflight. However, if the event is currently active, a new epic world quest will also be shown on the world map.
For the event itself, you will most likely need a group, as you must conquer and control multiple objectives simultaneously.
There are a total of 4 portals that are used by the Primalists. The portals must, similar to PvP objectives, be taken first. As long as you are near the portals, you will slowly gain control over them and will be continuously attacked by enemies until you have conquered the portal.
But beware: A conquered portal can be recaptured by the Primalists! So, you must assign people to guard the portal until all other portals are taken.
The whole thing is complicated by a new cold mechanic. As long as you stay in the open world of the Primalists, your body temperature drops in the form of a debuff. If you get too many stacks, you will freeze and quickly find yourself at the graveyard. At heat sources, you can reduce the debuff and even “store” some warmth to last longer in combat before the cold builds up.
Once all 4 portals are under the control of the heroes, the barrier that has been protecting the final boss of the event will disappear, making him attackable. However, the boss has an extremely high amount of health – 33 million on the PTR – and additionally scales with the number of players attacking him. Therefore, he feels more like a somewhat weaker world boss. At this point, you will definitely rely on a group.
As a reward, there is a chest with gold, resources from the Dragon Isles, and a chance for cosmetic weapons from the Primalists once a week. Additionally, there is a new currency with which you can purchase further rewards such as pets or mounts.
What is this anime reference now?
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a manga and anime series that has become extremely popular in recent years. The series is characterized by its (predominantly male), extremely exaggerated characters with the most absurd signature poses and ridiculous abilities.
The NPC “Zawarudo,” a bronze dragon, starts the event “Fury of the Storm.” You can find him at the seat of the aspects, and he gives you the starting quest that ultimately leads you to the event.

Zawarudo references the primary antagonist of the JoJo series, Dio Brando. He is able to freeze time for everyone else using his power while continuing to fight himself and thus eliminating enemies without resistance. This ability is called “The World” and is pronounced by the Japanese voice actor as “ZA WARUDO” – probably one of the most famous exclamations in the entire series and in the anime realm overall.
As bronze dragons have the ability to manipulate time, this was obviously the perfect opportunity to implement a “JoJo reference” into World of Warcraft as well. In general, WoW has increasingly referenced Japanese animation series in recent times – in the Academy of Algeth’ar, for example, there are NPCs based on the heroes and enemies from “YU-GI-OH!”.
You can play the storm event yourself from January 25, 2023 – as the Patch 10.0.5 goes live then.
