The Warcraft novel author Christie Golden is now officially working at Blizzard. Is she working on stories for Overwatch or even Warcraft 4?
Anyone who follows the stories surrounding World of Warcraft offline will surely have come across author Christie Golden. She is the author of a total of 10 Warcraft novels (including “Arthas – Rise of the Lich King” and “Thrall – Twilight of the Dragons”) and is celebrated by fans for her sometimes somewhat “harder” portrayal of the Warcraft universe.
On Twitter, the author announced that she has received a permanent job at Blizzard but cannot yet reveal exactly what she does there.
Originally, the tweet also stated that she was working at Blizzard “continuously until the end of October,” but that note has since been removed.
It seems clear, however, that this time it is not “just a book” that will come from her work. Because for that, a permanent position at Blizzard would not have been necessary, and such an announcement was never made for older novels in the past.
There is a lot of speculation on Twitter and Reddit. While some fans hope that she is writing the story for a possible “Warcraft 4,” others believe that she will be working on more story content for the Overwatch universe. Some think that Blizzard is now working on a story campaign for Overwatch. Still others believe that she is involved in the script for the (possible) second Warcraft movie.
What Golden is really working on, we will likely only find out in a few months – probably not until the next BlizzCon in November.
Christie Golden is regarded by fans as one of the “better” authors of the Warcraft works. In addition, she has also written stories for StarCraft. She has also contributed numerous novels to other prominent sci-fi worlds, such as Star Wars and Star Trek: Voyager.
